This takes place after Kaori's death. Kousei is now in high school. He continues to teach Nagi-chan who gradually becomes closer to her brother. He is instructed still by his teacher Hiroko-sensei and continues to participate in competitions with Takeshi-kun and Emi-san. Tsubaki-san and Ryota-kun started to out and studied a nearby high school from where Kousei attends his school.
Kousei Pov
Dark, gray, colorless is how Kousei Arima would describe every day. Colors were fading away day by day since she died. Kaori Miyazono. A violinist who never followed the score and played the way she wanted. An eighth grader that he fell in love with. He never forgot her, he promised he wouldn't.
Kousei woke up clutching the letter at 6 AM, even though he just woke up in the lonely room he felt very fatigued. Rubbing his eyes, he put on his glasses and stared at the ceiling. He was going to another competition today. He wasn't nervous but it was nostalgic for him it always reminded him of his mother and Kaori. He stopped playing because of his mother's death causing him to become tone-deaf and started again because of Kaori. Even though he won many times, it was always painful for him because immersed in the music, he started thinking of them. And this time, the competition he was participating in was the same one he participated on the day of Kaori's death. A few hours later he was ready waiting to perform in front of the judges.
He saw his friends in the audience barely. He sat down and got ready to play. It was Nocturne Op.55 No.1. (The one above.) He poured all of his emotion into, which made the sad song even sadder, he couldn't stop thinking about her death, he couldn't stop thinking about his mother's. By the time he finished the song he was on the verge of tears. After he finished he was congratulated by his friends but told them, "Sorry, not to be rude but I need to be alone for awhile" "Don't push yourself too hard k' Kousei?" Tsubaki responded with concern, even though she gave up on him, she still considered him her little brother. He solemnly nodded and was left alone in his thoughts.
Kaori Pov
All she could see was bright light. Soft music was heard a distance away. Tests were performed on her, she felt like a lab rat. It was always like this since she "miraculously" survive the surgery. The first one to survive, she went against the odds. But she wanted her life to go back to normal. Playing the violin with Kousei as her accompianist. But that's all she remembered... she couldn't recall her other family and friends. She wanted to go home.
"So, she looks healthy but after asking her a few questions, we discovered that all she remembers is something about a pianist and a violin. Do you think she might have amnesia?" A woman reported to the head doctor. "This is good, she is starting to talk, so she must be recovering now, I was getting worried since it has been a year..." he responded. "A year? It has only been a few tests," she thought. "Let's move her back to her room, give her sleeping gas, and see what happens if we give her a violin after she wakes up."
