Emma POV

We had finished clearing the field and we had driven the cars into the prison. It was dark and me and Daryl were standing on top of an overturned prison bus keeping watch. Everyone else was sitting down by a small campfire. Me and Daryl where talking about random stuff. What ever popped into our heads at the time. Carol walked over to us holding two plates of food. They had like two baked beans on each plate. She put the plates on the top of the bus and tried climbing up. She failed and I helped her up.

"Thanks". She blushed. She picked up the plates and gave one to me and one to Daryl.

"It's you I should be thanking. You brought me food". I smirked at the small amount of food.

"I'm sorry it's not much but we didn't have a lot and right now Lori, Carl and Sophia are the priorities". She said, I nodded and she winced and held her shoulder.

"Are you ok". Darly asked.

"Yeah..... I'm just not used to the kick back from that gun". Carol smirked and rubbed her shoulder.

"Come here". Daryl said as he shoved he plate at me and walked behind Carol. He started rubbing her shoulders. But not in a weird way in a like friendly way. I heard singing coming from the camp and smiled.

"We should probably go back". I said as Daryl walked over to me and took his plate back.

We carefully jumped down from the bus and walked over to the camp. Maggie and Beth were singing a song called parting glass. Me and Daryl sat down on our sleeping bags (which were right next to each other) as Carol went over to Sophia and they snuggled together and fell asleep. I leaned against Daryl and he put an arm around my shoulder and kissed the top of my head. I hugged him.

Rick started a big long speech. I felt my self slowly drifting to sleep. I tried to keep my eyes open but ultimately sleep pulled me in.

Time skip. <next morning>

I was gently shaken awake. I looked up and saw Daryl smiling at me.

"Come one time to get up. We got a big day today". He smiled. I carefully sat up.

"Where you watching me sleep". I asked playfully.

"No cos that's creepy". He answered.

"Guys come on, get into formation". Rick came up walked up behind me and Daryl then walked over to the locked gate.

"One sec". I said as I got up off my sleeping bag and stretched my arms. Daryl stood up next to me and then stretched. He then started walking over to the locked gate where Rick was. I followed. "Soooooo why do we need to get into formation". I asked as I walked next to him.

"We are clearing out the prison today or at least just a cell block". He answered and looked at me.

I had grown over the winter. I was now as tall as Daryl and I had become numb to blood and guts. Nothing really bothered me anymore because I felt like I had seen it all.

"Sounds like fun". I said sarcastically.

We got into formation with Maggie, T-dog, Glenn and Rick. We stood in a diamond shape with our melee weapons drawn and Beth opened the gate to the walker infested prison court yard. I had my knife drawn and was stabbing any walkers in the head that got to close. Beth, Lori, Carl, Sophia, Herschel and Carol were at the side fences making lots of noise trying to get the walkers over there so we didn't have lots of walkers to worry about. Together we had killed almost all of the walkers. I sheathed my knife and got my bow out of my quiver. I loaded my bow and kept it ready to fire.

We where about to go around a corner when rick stopped us. Everyone broke formation and pushed themselves against the prison wall. Me and Daryl raised our loaded weapons at the walkers Rick had spotted. The walkers where wearing black SWAT suits. Daryl fired an arrow at one of the walkers but it bounced right off the helmet. I fired my arrow but it did the same as Daryl's arrow. I quickly put my bow back in my quiver and got my knife out. Rick ran at the walkers and to a open gate which held a court yard full of walkers.

"DARYL". Rick shouted. Daryl ran over to him and helped him lock the gate.

I watched as maggie lifted the helmet of one of the walkers up and stabbed it in the eye. Glenn and T-dog did the same to the last to walkers. We all backed away from the scene and looked at it.

"It looks secure". Glenn said as he looked around.

"Not by the looks of that courtyard over there....... And that's a civilian". Daryl pointed to a dead walker on the floor.

"So the prison could be over run from walkers from out side the prison". T-dog asked as he leaned against a wall.

"If there's a breach we can't rebuild this whole place". Glenn said.

"Visiting hours". Everyone looked at me. "People could have been visiting friends or family when this broke out.... that's why there might be civilians in here". I explained everyone looked at me in shock. "What I know things". I said. Daryl smirked.

"Come on everyone let's clear out this cell block". Rick said as he started walking towards cell block 'c'.

We opened the very loud door and I had my swords drawn. The both were covered in blood. When we have cleared this cell block I'm going to clean all of my weapons and all of my clothes. We walked into the block and it was dark and eerie. It was like being in a horror movie. There was a big canteen sort of area with lots of doors leading of to one place or another. I put my sheathed my swords and walked down a small set of stairs. To my left there was a big caged off area and two my right there were some tables and chairs. But right in front of me was a big sort of guard tower thing with a windowed off room at the top.

Rick quietly walked up the metal stair and into the room at the top. He came out a few seconds later with a set of keys. He walked back down the stairs and gave me and Daryl a set of prison keys. I smiled that he had given me so much responsibility as he walked over to the door which lead to the cells. He opened it and we all went in. I looked at Rick (What we would normally do is I would whistle when Rick gave the signal) he looked around and then nodded. I whistled as loud as I could and you could hear moans and rattling coming from the upstairs bit. Rick and Daryl walked up stairs and disposed of the walkers then chucked them down to us as everyone from out side came in. Me and T-dog dragged the walkers over into the farthest cell and left them there. We walked back out and I went and stood by Daryl.

"What do you think". Rick asked to no one in particular but looked at Lori.

"Home sweet home". Glenn grumbled as he carried bags into a cell.

"For the time being". Rick said.

"It's secure". Lori questioned.

"This cell block it". Rick said.

"What about the rest of the prison". Herschel asked.

"We will find the cafeteria and the infirmary in the morning". Rick confirmed...... Shit more work.

"We sleep in the cells".

"We found some keys on some guards Me, Daryl and Emma have a set". Rick said.

"I'm not sleeping in no cage....... I'll take the perch". Daryl spoke. Everyone walked off to find their cells.

"Nope perch is mine". I smirked.

"How about we share it but sleep in different beds and stuff cos that would just be weird". Daryl queried.

"Deal". I nodded.

We walked up the stairs and onto the perch. We pulled two matrices out off a cell and put them on the perch. I had one at my end and he had on at his end. I lied down on my new bed and smiled.

"What are you smiling at". Daryl scoffed as he also lied down on his new bed. "Oh that's what your smiling at". He said with a 'oh' tone.

I sat up, took my quiver off my back and off my waist. I lied back down and Daryl threw a sleeping bag at me. I sat back up and scowling at him. He just smiled. I took my sleeping bag out of its bag and unzipped it so it mad one big blanket. I lied back down and snuggled underneath it. I quickly fell asleep.
