First one up was a preachers son
Last one down was an Englishman
I'm in bed with his bow tie on
All dressed up for a hit and runIt was late afternoon and I had just put the finishing touches on my make-up when I stepped out of the bathroom. There I saw Bow Tie laying on the bed with only his bow tie. A smile played on his face, "Draw me like one of your french girls."
I scoffed and threw him a shirt, "Just because I call you Bow Tie doesn't mean that that's what I want to see you in."
He whined like a small child, "Aw, come on Y/N. I was just trying to have some fun."
My E/C eyes glared at his blue ones, "We have a mission to complete. We need to focus on that and not on having 'fun'."
He held his hands up in defeat, "Okay, you've got me there. But when this is all said and done, you'll play with me right?"
I lightly hit him on the arm, "In your wildest dreams."
He gave me a small smirk and was about to say something when Francis burst in, "Mon cherie! I had a feeling you were cheating on me, but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that it would be with him!"
A new voice quickly interrupted Francis's ridiculous rant. "Oh shut up, you bloody frog. This is no time for your frivolous antics."
Francis turned towards the voice and immediately began yelling at Arthur. "I am not a 'bloody frog', you black sheep!"
They started to bicker with each other, but I quickly put an end to that, "Will both of you please shut up."
Alfred put a hand on my shoulder, but I quickly brushed it away. "Curls is right; we need to get ready for tonight's gala if we're ever going to get any information on the Vargas brothers."
"That's right, and-" I quickly paused for a moment before asking, "Curls?"
A small blush creeped up his face, "Well, uh-yeah. I mean you call me Bow Tie, so I thought that I'd call you Curls."
I shook my head in confusion, "Yeah, but where did you get 'Curls'?"
He rubbed the back of his neck, "Well, when we first met; your hair was all curly and it was really bouncy and-uh-never mind."
"Okay, two things. One, was 'Curls' really the best that you could come up with? And two, don't ever call me that again or I will personally slit your throat."
He looked away, clearly embarrassed. A few moments of pregnant silence passed before I let out a small sigh and started to fix Alfred's bow tie. He was obviously surprised by my sudden action, "W-what are you doing?" He exclaimed.
I rolled my E/C eyes before responding, "It's crooked and we need to get going."
"Mon ami is correct, we really should get going. Won't you allow me to escort you?"
I waved away his ridiculous offer. As if I would ever let him touch me. "That's quite alright Francis. Does everyone remember the plan?"
"Of course we do, love. Francis and I are to enter at separate times and then 'leave' the gala to look for some additional information."
Alfred started bouncing up and down, "Oh! And then Y/N and I will enter together. But we'll have a big 'fight.' Which will be conveniently staged in front of one of the Vargas brothers. Then they'll console her, while she gets information on them."
A look of surprise was displayed on everyone's face. Eventually Arthur spoke up, "Wow, Alfred. And here I thought that you were just stuffing burgers in your mouth during our briefing."
I stifled a laugh at Alfred's surprised face. "Hey! What's that supposed to mean?"
I rolled my eyes, "Nothing that you could comprehend. Now let's get going Bow Tie."
Le Time Skip
A man dressed in a lavish suit announced our entrance into the gala. "Now entering is Mr. and Mrs. Jones." I frowned at being associated as Alfred's partner, but I had to keep up my false facade. I let Alfred lead me down to the dance floor where the men spun their female partners in dizzying circles. I watched as their lavishly decorated dresses spun in wide arcs around them. I couldn't help but feel a bit under dressed, as I was only wearing a simple black gown.
I felt Alfred tug lightly on my arm. He led me to the dance floor where we began to waltz. I let the orchestra's music flow through me. The music was soft and comforting, and the solid beat of the cello's gave way to a low rumbling throughout the entire hall. I looked at Alfred and saw a soft smile staring down at me. When my E/C eyes met his blue orbs his smile grew a bit wider and a teasing look played in his eyes, "You were humming to the music."
A wave of embarrassment crash over me. How in the world did I let myself get so caught up in the soothing rumble of the music that I let my guard down?
"Yeah, well don't get too used to it." I replied quite hastily.
He let out an obnoxious laugh; as if I was a stubborn dog. That may not be too far from the truth. A voice chimed in my head. I quickly shoved it to the back of my mind.
"Come on Y/N, let's go get something to drink." I looked in the direction of the refreshments table and saw Lovino Vargas talking to another male. I nodded in response to Alfred's suggestion. Knowing full well that it was time to spring our plan in to action.
I went to grab a drink of wine when Alfred snatched it from my hand. I cleared my throat, "Um, excuse me."
He gave a small smirk before proceeding to take a sip of my wine. "You're excused." He gave an obnoxious laugh and gestured to the men around him. Getting them to laugh at my annoyance.
I tried to glare daggers at him, but unfortunately, he didn't start to bleed in pain from my non-existent daggers. "That was my wine. And I would like it back."
"Say please." He said in a taunting voice.
I gritted my teeth, "Please." Anger seethed through my voice.
Alfred gave yet another laugh, "No need to get upset Princess. Here's your wine." He then took the glass and poured it over my head. I was now covered in the sticky substance. I was about to slap him when I saw that someone had beat me to it. Lovino Vargas stood before me. He grabbed my arm, pulling me away from the scene. I looked behind me to see a large, red welt forming on Alfred's face.
"Are you alright, ragazza?" I looked up to see beautiful amber eyes staring at me. But I quickly averted my gaze to the floor, "Yes, no thanks to you."
He lifted my chin so that we were once again looking at each other's eyes. He gave a small shake of his head, "Why did you let him push you around?"
A small blush creeped up my face, "I-I didn't want to cause a commotion."
Lovino pulled me in a small embrace, "Stick by me and I won't let people like him push you around."
"T-thank you. Is there any way that I could repay you for your generous offer?"
He gave a small smile, "Like this."
His lips met mine. His lips tasted like thyme. Our kiss was soft and gentle, but it lasted an eternity.
I let out a small smile as a thought came to mind,
All dressed up for a hit and run.
