"This has been the fifth murder this week alone. We are advising all citizens of Echo Creek to stay indoors, as it appears that this serial killer attacks at night. All policemen are on high alert for any suspicious activity. I repeat, PLEASE STAY INDOORS."
Star stared nervously at the news broadcaster, for she looked scared herself. She grabbed Marco's hand in anticipation, trying to cope with the fact that he might be the one causing these murders.
"Star, I-I don't know what's going on, but I swear I didn't kill anyone," Marco said. Star stared at him with bloodshot eyes.
"Marco, I don't believe it. You've been gone for five nights straight, and every time, there's a new murder....do I really know you, Diaz?" Star asked suspiciously.
"Star, seriously? I'm the safe kid. Why would you believe that stuff?"
"How can I not? I've only known for like, six months now. I don't know everything about you! Is Marco even your real name?" She questioned, over exaggerating her point.
"Star, stop it!"
"No! I'm not going to be friends with a freakin serial killer!"
"I'm NOT a serial killer! I've been telling you that for the past three hours!"
"Explain the suit, Marco. Explain the disappearing at NIGHT! Explain why all of these murders are happening the bad neighborhood you SOMEHOW showed up to!" Star yelled, flailing her hand in the air.
"Star, I don't know! I just feel like I'm being possessed or something!" Marco shot back, folding his arms.
"Riiiiight, as if Earth has something as magical as that!" Star said, rolling her eyes.
Actually, we can be hypnotized—but that's not the POINT! I'M NOT KILLING ANYONE SO JUST SHUT UP!" Marco screamed in rage.
Star's face was shocked. She never seen Marco so angry before. She could cry, but she didn't. She Humphed and ran up the stairs to her bedroom. Marco realized what he had just said, and he covered his face with his hands.
What if she's right? What if I am the killer? But that wouldn't make sense....I never killed anyone in my life, so why start now? Maybe....maybe Star has something in her book about it. But she'll never let me see it after that big blow up I just made.....I should apologize.
Marco walked slowly up the stairs and knocked on Star's door.
"Staaaaar, I'm really sorry I yelled at you. I was just really mad at the fact that I might be the one committing the murders, and—"
"Go away," Star yelled. He could hear her sobbing.
"Star, please let me in. I didn't mean what I said!"
"I don't want a murderer in my room! Leave me alone!" Star yelled. That stung. Hard.
"I'm coming in," Marco said. He twisted the door knob and opened the door. He put his hands straight up in the air.
Star was pointing her wand straight at him, shooting daggers. She started to power it up, making Marco anxious and afraid. Would she actually do that to him?
G-go awa—"she broke down, dropping her wand and bursting into tears. She fell on the ground herself, pouring her heart out onto the floor. Marco ran straight to her, pulling her into a warm embrace. She softly punched him in the chest, trying to get him off of her.
"Get a-away f-from m-me," she sobbed into his shoulder, eventually hugging him back. The two just laid on the floor, hugging each other tightly.
Marco eventually broke the hug and grabbed her shoulders, looking at her straight in her blue eyes. "Star, even if I am the killer, I would never try to hurt you. I love you too much for that," he said. Star gave him a small smile. He wiped the tears away from her cheeks. Her hearts were glowing.
