CHAPTER 14
Adeline's POV
She was kissing me. Her lips were pressed against mine. I moved one of my hands to the small of her back and cupped her cheek with my other hand. Both of her hands were wrapped around my neck softly. I moved my lips against hers and pulled her closer. She tasted of marshmallows and raspberries.
We pulled away from each other, only for both of us to start giggling uncontrollably. I took a second to break eye contact only to see Frankie was gone. He must've left to give us some privacy. I pulled her closer to me and buried my face in her neck. She laughed softly and twirled a couple pieces of my hair around her finger.
"I'm so relieved that you feel this way about me." I pulled myself away from the hug to take a good look at her face. "How so?" I mumbled. She smiled and pecked my cheek.
"Because. I feel the same. I like you a lot but I love your eyes and how bright they are even if the colour is brown. I love your soft lips and small stature. I love your laugh because when you laugh, you make others laugh. You're just a gorgeous person and I'm so glad to have met you. I hope that you want me in your life and I don't care whether it's just a friendship or we text time to time. Though I hope it turns into something more. I want you in my life Adeline. No matter what."
I smiled at her and could feel myself blushing. "I think if things go well maybe in the future we can become more than friends but for now I think we should get to know each other a bit more." She nodded in agreement but then her face fell. "What's wrong?", I asked.
"We kissed. Doesn't that already make us more than friends?" I pulled her down the steps so that we were leveld. "At this point I'm not sure. I still need to figure out things with Cait. I do like you though. I know that but I have no idea if she and I are broken up or if she wants to take things slow again. Either way I have to break her heart." Ari nodded but I could tell she still wasn't pleased with my answer.
My phone started to buzz in my back pocket and I pulled it out to see who was calling me. It was Xian. "Hey what's up?" I mumbled and grabbed Ariana's hand. "Caits at my house screaming for you. Please come get your crazy girlfriend."
I pulled her closer to me and it felt like I had done it a million times before. It felt natural and I liked it.
"Um yeah about that. Cait proposed to me and I said no. Is she mad? She sounds mad." Her screaming was inaudible but it was there. "She what?! Why did you say no?" Ari lightly rested her head on my shoulder and started to lightly trace circles on the small of my back.
"I have no feelings for her and she was moving to fast. I was leading her on and I'd rather end things than hurt her even more." Xian sighed and the sound of someone walking came from his end of he call. Some mumbling was next and then a familiar voice. "Addy?"
I immediately tensed up. "Cait hi.." Ari stopped tracing my back and lifted he head to look at me with her eyebrows creased together in a frown. "Where are you? We need to talk immediately." Her voice was angry yet soft at the same time. I didn't like it.
She was clearly upset that I had left but relieved to hear my voice. "Now's not a good time." Ariana looked at me more sternly and took a step back pointing to my phone and mouthing the words, "Solve it." before walking away into her living room.
"No. Now." I sighed admiting defeat. "Fine."
"Good. Meet me at the park. Our usual spot. Come alone." Then the line went silent. I removed the phone from my ear and slowly made my way where Ari was. "She wants me to meet her at the park in our usual spot alone."
She stood up and wrapped her arms around me tightly and I did the same. "Be safe. I don't trust her. If things get uncomfortable please text me." She squeezed my body and let me go.
"Of course. This'll be over soon I promise." I kissed her cheek and let my lips linger there longer than usual. She pushed me softly away and smiled at me. "I hope so."
I turned around and made my way to her front door. Should I look back? Is that too cliché? Is she watching me leave? My curiosity got the best of me and I stopped in front of the door. I looked back. This was cliché but she was watching me leave. I turned the doorknob, pushed open the door then stepped out too finally end this once and for all.
