Chapter 3
I go and sit down next to Madison, and look at the attractive man in front of us. Brown hair, brown eyes, short stubble.
"So, what does he have to say?" I ask Madison, catching eye contact with Liam. We both look away.
"He thinks his friend did it," Madison says. My eyes widen and I look up at him. "What?"
"So this morning, around 5am, my roommate Dylan Monroe left our dorm in all black clothes. He was being quite loud, so he woke me up. I didn't see him until around 9 in class, but he was acting perfectly normal. I asked him about it and he just shrugged it off and said I must've been dreaming."
"This is good, Liam. We'll call him in and talk to him. Thank you for your time," I say, excited. We finally have a suspect, other than Aviree. Liam nods and smiles at me, putting his hand out for me and Madison to shake. We both shake it, me and Liam's hands touching for a little while longer than him and Madison's did, and then Liam leaves.

We find Dylan's number, and call him. He sounded really confused, but he said he would come anyway. About fifteen minutes later, he shows up and we take him back for questioning.
He's very fidgety; biting his nails, not looking either of us in the eye, bouncing his knee.
"So, Dylan, what were you doing around 5am this morning?" Madison asks. I watch Dylan's reaction; his eyes widen and he starts moving around in his chair uncomfortably.
"I was asleep." I'm sure.
"Oh, really? Do you have anyone that can confirm that?" He shakes his head.
"A little birdy told us that they saw you leaving your dorm in all black clothing at 5am, sneaking out. How 'bout that?"
"Well, whoever said that, I don't know what they're talking about. I was asleep!" He tries raising his voice, but it comes out quiet and shaky. Me and Madison glance at eachother, then at him.
"So, you absolutely were not up at 5am?" I'm honestly getting so sick of asking questions, and people lying. Why can't you just confess over the stupid shit you did and then it can all be over with? It's not my problem you did something wrong.
It gets quiet after I ask that, and Dylan is just staring off into space, while me and Madison stare at him. Out of nowhere, I see his lip quiver, and then he finally opens his mouth.
"Fine! I was up at 5am, but I didn't murder Khloe! I've been sneaking around with this girl named Aviree Conrad and so-"
"Aviree Conrad? As in Khloe's roommate?" Madison says, shocked. I'm shocked as well, this is all being linked up together and I need to figure this out before I go crazy.
Dylan nods, then says, "but I didn't want anyone to know, and now that Khloe got murdered I don't want anyone to know even more because then they'd think Aviree did it because she's Khloe's roommate and then I felt like Aviree would tell everyone about us and then I would become a suspect-" Dylan says this all in one breath, but I interrupt him.
"Why didn't you want people to find out about your guys' relationship?"
It's silent for a couple of minutes, until Dylan finally says ashamedly, "because I'm cheating on another girl with Aviree."
I let out a long breath, then tell him that he could leave now, because I believed him. He gets up in a fast manner and walks out, bumping into Detective Brine as he walks out.
"So?" Detective Brine raises his eyebrow.
"Not a killer, just an asshole," I say exasperated. Madison laughs.
