Chapter 6

After all of my classes were over, I went straight to me and Madison's dorm room. I was tired of asking people questions and trying not to be obvious.

Once I get to the room, Madison is already there, sitting on her bed.

"How was your day, Sophie?" I say, raising an eyebrow. She shrugs.

"Quite tiring, actually. But I talked to this guy today and he said he knew something."

"Really? What was it?" I ask excitedly, sitting down next to her on her bed.

"He said he knew that Dylan Monroe and Khloe were really close. Like he always saw them together and even sometimes holding hands and kissing once. I don't think Dylan told us the whole truth," Madison says, and I instantly think of something.

"Remember when Dylan told us he was cheating on Aviree Conrad? He never gave us the name of the other girl. What if it was Khloe? That could've been Aviree's motive to kill her- she wanted to be with Dylan." I was pretty set on this, but we still didn't have any true evidence to make this believable.

"That's good. We should tell Detective Brine and question Aviree and Dylan again," Madison said, pulling out her phone. I looked at the time - 2pm.

"Hey, since my classes are over I'm going to go back to my apartment for a little while. I can focus better there; I want to think more about the case." I say, throwing my coat on and my bag over my shoulder. Madison nods.

"Okay, sounds fair. I'm gonna stay. Meet me back here around 8 if you want?" She asks me, spinning around in her rolly chair. I smile and nod before closing the door and walking down the never-ending hallway.

Once I arrive at home, it's nothing new. I clean a little bit, mess around with Ace, snack on some food, and take a nap.

Inbetween all of that, though, I thought about the case. I tried to piece together how Khloe could be associated with Dylan; going over all of our conversations. But once again, nothing came up.

The next couple days go the same way- me going to classes, asking people about the murder, and then going home or sitting in my dorm for the rest of the day. It became quite a routine. Me and that Liam boy have been talking quite a lot in class though, and he's super sweet. I honestly see something happening between us in the near future.

"Hey Ellie," Madison says loudly as she opens the door to our dorm, making me jump and the book I was reading fall to the ground. She laughs.

"Anything new today?" I ask, picking up the book and going back to my comfortable position in bed. Madison sets her bags down onto her bed before plopping down herself.

"Not really; as usual. But... I got invited to a party and they said I could bring someone," Madison giggles like a school girl, and I roll my eyes. She's older than me and I act more mature than her.

"Well we're not going. Brine will probably get upset with us."

"Oh c'mon, Ellie! We deserve a little fun after these passed boring days."

"Aren't we a little too old for a college party? I mean, you're almost thirty," I say, and Madison frowns while I laugh.

"Am not! I'm only 28. You're 26. We're not that old. We should go, Mal. Please? We can get drunk!" I roll my eyes once again.

"Do you even know where this party is? Who's party is it? Who even invited you?" I ask, sitting up and actually looking at Madison.

"It's a frat party, I'm not sure who's though. It's on the other side of campus, and that cute guy you talk to, Liam, I think, invited me," Madison smirks, and my eyes widen. "Yeah, I know about you two," Madison laughs.
