i guess you wouldn't remember
after how long it's been
but i did love you, once
i'm not sure what happened or how we got here
staring at each other's eyes like our souls were bared
but i did love you, once
it doesn't matter whose heart broke first
this isn't a race you can sprint your way through
but i did love you, once
you'd ask why i'm crying again like i always do
because every time i see you
i'm reminded of how i still love you
not one, twice or thrice but a gazillion times over
the cosmos would be jealous and the stars would weep with envy
but for you it's different
because you only loved me once
