Chapter 2 ~ Black Veil Brides
“Andy, you’re insane.” I comment as I pick at my cold macaroni and cheese on my lunch plate.
“But it will take off! You’ve told me how I’m such a good singer and guitar player. It will happen! I have a feeling.”
“Andy…” I sigh looking up at him.
“Des, trust me. Black Veil Brides will be awesome.” He said.
Andy had wanted to start a band, writing songs and actually getting it out in the open with gigs, and sending recordings to studios and getting a signing. I didn’t think it was such a great idea, trying to find all the members and dealing with everything.
“Desrae?” He pleaded, his bright blue eyes looked at me pleadingly, and he looked adorable.
“I mean, it can’t be too hard to get discovered, with Chance & Andy really taking off.” Chance suddenly piped up.
I glared at the spikey haired blonde at the end of the table and he shrunk back.
“Yeah!” Andy said and then held one of my hands between two of his. “Please Desrae! We need you!”
“Fine Andy, I’ll be your manager.” I mutter, getting up to throw away my lunch as the bell sounded.
“Love you!” He called after me, hugging me briskly and dashing off to his next class.
I sauntered in the halls and shook my head, what had I just signed up for?

I sat in my room, at my desk, on my laptop planning out how this band was going to work. Andy was playing my acoustic guitar as I looked up how to make a professional looking video, knowing Chance would scorn me for not asking him first.
Soon I spun around in my wheeley chair and looked at Andy, a notebook in my lap. “Now, it’s song writing time.”
“Actually Des, I have the song already, I wrote it a long time ago…” Andy smiled slyly at me.
“You do?” I look surprised at him. “When did you have time to do that?”
“About 5 in the morning a while ago.” He laughed and nodded. “I also have the guitar notes written down for acoustic.”
“Well, let’s hear it.”
“First, you need to know it’s about me when I went through that… stage.” He nodded at me and quoting to the word ‘stage’.
A shadow cast across my face as I looked down and nodded solemnly. When Andy and I were in Jr. High we were deeply bullied, constantly judged and taunted for being different. Although both of us went into our dark ages, Andy was deeper in the sadness than me. He was cutting like me, and developed anger issues. It was a dark time for both of us, but I stuck to his side and helped through everything.
He began strumming a sweet chord and I closed my eyes as I listened to him playing. It was melodic and I liked it so far.
“Alone at last we can sin and fight.
And I've lost all faith in this blurring light,
Stay right here we can change our plight.
Storming through this despite what's right.
One final fight for this tonight.
Whoa-oh-oh
With knives and pens we made our plight.
Lay your heart down, the end's in sight.
Conscience begs for you to do what's right.
Everyday it's still the same dull knife,
Stab right through and justify your pride.
One final fight for this tonight.
Whoa-oh-oh
With knives and pens we made our plight.
Whoa-oh-oh
Well I can't go on without your love that you lost, you never held on.
We tried our best. Turn out the light. Turn out the light!”
Andy sung more but I smiled sweetly and opened my eyes to see Andy strum, and listen to his amazing singing voice. When he finished there was a proud glint in his eyes and he looked at me expectantly.
“That was amazing, Andy.” I say and dash over to hug him.
“Thanks, Des.” He chuckled, his voice muffled as my shoulder covered his mouth.
“We really might have a chance with this…” I comment as he squeals.
It’s on.
