Chapter 19- Our Days Are Numbered

Desrae was with Never Shout Never today, Christopher Drew had promised to watch after her for me. I hadn't stopped stressing as I lay in my bunk.

I was trying to figure out how many turns I would need to hand her over until the tour was over, if I did she'd be spending it in a different place every night, over 100 switches with only 60 bands. I sigh and run a hand through my hair, it almost felt like I was doing some sort of illegal thing like bootlegging, but what I was exchanging had so much more value than alcohol or drugs, this was Desrae Jupiter.

The more I thought about it the more memories of me and Desrae flooded through my head. All the memories way back into elementary up to now. I was so into my meander on memory lane that I didn't realize I'd fallen asleep. I lapsed into a dream though it felt like I was just reliving the past.

It was the beginning of Black Veil Brides, with the third band trial. When I was sharing an apartment with Des and we were hyper off of multiple boxes of Girl Scout 'tagalong' cookies in our stomachs. She had her big rocker hair, in all black from her black tank top to her classic black cowboy boots. She and I had Warpaint on our faces and she was wearing a plastic batman mask and we were running around the couch.

"Desrae Jupiter! Put your hands up where I can see them!" I shout pointing my weapon at her as I stood in the middle of the couch and she tried to hide behind the couch, aiming the barrel of my gun at her chest, trained on my target.

"I'm not Desrae! I'm Batman!" she laughs back and shoots off down the hall into the room with me following after.

Succeeding the chasing, I finally managed to corner her in the kitchen, between the counter and the fridge she was stuck now!

"Now do you have any last words, you batman fraud!" I smirk holding up a nerf gun I'd picked up in the event of the chase.

"You'll never take me alive!" She shouts.

"Bang! Bang!" I roar after she says that, shooting two foam darts at her heart.

Desrae makes a scene of holding her chest and falling onto a knee "The Dark Knight... is dead" she gasps and falls on the floor.

"I win" I chuckle and act like I was blowing smoke from the barrel of a gun.

"Yes, yes you did. But I led on a chase for at least an hour!" she chuckles sitting up and sitting cross legged looking up at me with a beaming smile.

I chuckle "That had to be the best game of cops and robbers yet."

"Dude yes it was!" She giggles

I was jolted from my sleep from a ringtone. I jump and open my eyes, I guess it had been a few hours since I fell asleep and I looked at my phone that was ringing. I look at it and see Juliet was calling.

"Hello?" I ask sleepily.

"White Rabbit! Where are you guys? I'm at the airport." She says cheerily.

"What time is it?" I murmur.

"It's seven a.m., the time you're supposed to pick me up. Where are you guys?!" she says irritated.

"I don't know you just woke me up... look I'll text you ok?"

"Andrew Biersack don't you hang up o-"

I hung up, ignoring her threat and got out of bed. "Where are we?" I ask Jon who was driving.

"We're almost to the airport... why couldn't she just take a taxi... we used so much gas, the money comes out of sales from the tent..." Jon murmurs.

I wince, this bus took a ton of gas to get us from state to state. "I'm sorry Jon."

"It's fine Biersack... tell her we're almost there."

I nod and go sit on the couch, I pull out my phone and text Juliet but I realize, I don't seem as excited as I usually am when I know I'm going to see Juliet. I pause just as I'm about to hit the send button. What is up with me?

I look down at my hand where 'Dragonfly' was on my hand but I shook my head. "I'm an idiot... why did I do this?" I murmur.

Then I question myself again, "Why don't I love Juliet...?"

Then I hear a small laugh, I look around for who was laughing but soon after the third giggle I recognize it as Desrae's. I tilt my head and look down at my hand.

"Yeah, I'm happy for you Andy."

"Black Veil Brides will happen! It will be the best Rock n Roll band ever!"

"You all are my brothers..."

"That's no way to talk to your best friend Batman, take a joke" All these sayings went through my head, all of those quotes belonged to Desrae, one last one went through my head that tugged at my heart.

"Hey Andy... we'll be friends forever right? Pinky promise me!"

I was thinking about this last saying from so long ago, and I finally came to accept. I didn't see Desrae as my friend anymore. Desrae was more than just my best friend. I loved her on another level, I love Desrae.

My thoughts interrupted as I hear the squeak of the bus door that needs oil and my gaze snaps to the staircase as Juliet Simms climbs onto my bus.

"Andy, darling! Are you happy to see me? Hug me!" She says.

I slowly stand and hug her but I look at Jon in this hug and he returns the gaze looking confused at my solemn look, but inside I didn't like this, it felt wrong.

I only want Desrae in my arms.
