I reached the classroom with the paper bag. Nicole caught me crying.
“Why? What happened?” She asked.
“Nothing,” I answered. I heard heels getting near us. It was Teacher Liezel.
“Where are the drinks? And where’s Bruce? And why are you crying?” Teacher asked.
Then, a complete memory black came to me. My mind was empty except in what Arvin did. I keep on thinking about: what happened? Then my memories came back when someone slapped my face.
“Hey! Who did that?” I asked.
“I let Nicole do that so you can answer in what I am saying. Sorry about that.” Teacher said.
“That’s ok. I had a memory black a while ago when you were asking the questions. Thank you anyways.” I said.
Arvin and Bruce arrived. I walked out the classroom and bumped him shoulder-to-shoulder. Nicole followed me. All I just did was to bump him and go straight ahead the hallway.
I sat down on the floor, leaning on the wall, my head on my knees, my arms wrapping my legs and cry. Then Nicole sat beside me. “What happened?” she asked. I starred her eyes with my eyes, teary and went back sobbing, my head on my knees and still wrapping my legs with my arms. Nicole hugged me. “It’s, its ok.” She said.
I sniffed. “Maybe, I’m really the one who started the fight.”
“Why? What really happened?” she asked.
I started telling her the story. In some middle parts, someone kept on disturbing us. It wasn’t a she. It’s a he, scary. He had this, huge eyes that were scary. He’s small and fat and walks awkward. His hair is a bristle-like as if for a toothbrush. Then, I realized it was Marc Roxas.
“What the,” I was wondering.
“Why?” Nicole asked.
“He’s scary! Dang, it… it… it, makes me more nervous!”
“Who, tell me, Krisa.”
Then when I looked at Marc, we made a scary face that made me more uncomfortable, as if, that he was going to punch me. I stared back to Nicole. I was about to say to Nicole but Marc just passed by.
“You know,” he said and leaned on the wall. “I wouldn’t do that if I was him.”
“Shut up, Marc! You’re the one making her nervous! Get out you-” Nicole screamed just to protect me.
“What? I was trying to make her happy.”
“Well, you’re not! Come on Krisa, let’s go inside the-”
“You’re right. I need to say sorry to Bruce.” I said.
“Come on then!” Nicole grabbed my arm and went straight to the classroom,
We made it. So far, Bruce went near me.
“I’m going to leave you guys for a sec.” Nicole left.
I looked at Bruce then I swallowed. “What? You’re going to-”
What are you thinking? I thought. I need to say sorry. Not to argue. I went back on track in what was I going to say.
“Bruce, I’m sorry. It’s my fault. I screamed in front of you and-”
“No.” Bruce mentioned. “I should be the one to say sorry. I was my fault because-”
“No. It’s mine.”
“It’s mine.”
“Fine, then, it’s ours.”
“So, let’s be friends?”
“Ok. No more arguments?”
“No more arguments”
I closed my eyes and made the last teardrop.
He held my face. “Hey, don’t cry.” He wiped my tear with his thumb. “I don’t want to see you cry.”
I smiled. All of a change, he hugged me. My hands were at my sides, in shock that he hugged me. I made my decision, I hugged him too.
He shifted his arms from my body to the shoulders, pushed me but didn’t let go of me. He said “I’ll show you something. Let’s go outside so nobody will see.” He grabbed my arm and went straight outside.
