Kristina’s right. Fighting Red’s challenge was weird. It didn’t seem like a challenge. It was only like a bet. He wasn’t really good in making challenges. He always lost because of pride. He has butterfly teeth.
I’m trying to impress Kristina while going up. We were slow in walking. That’s good. She is a good listener.
Then, we reached the hallway until Nicole passed by. “Hey Krisa, where have you- Oh my! Are you guys dating?”
Krisa looked at me. “Bruce,”
“Yes,” I answered.
“I’m leaving you now.” Then, she gave me a kiss on the cheek and left leaving me in the hallway. While she left, she was waving me goodbye and I did the same, but I was staying there.
I was alone now. I went to the fourth floor until I saw someone. It was PJ, playing basketball.
PJ is a half-Filipino and half-British. He was my classmate last year until he transferred to somewhere else. He’s funny because of his hilarious mind.
“Bruce,” PJ said. “Head’s up!”
He threw the ball and I caught the ball. I walk towards to the best angle in where I can shoot. Hey, I’m one of the varsities in basketball.
So while I’m walking towards that good angle, PJ and I have this conversation about something I really understand.
PJ said. “Hey Bruce, anyone special lately,”
“None yet,” I lied and reached the best angle for me. I shoot the ball, three points for me.
“Nice shot!” Someone said.
“Who are you?” PJ said. “I demand you to show up!”
He showed up all right. It was Val, along with Karl, holding Kristina’s wrists as if that she was already weak, beaten up.
“Let go of her!” I demanded. “Karl, she may be your cousin but you still don’t have the right to hurt someone. Val, you’re my friend. I supported you in all times. We were the trio: Karl, you and me. We were the varsities that are famous. Please, let her go.”
“And you still care for this girl?” Karl said.
“You like these kind of girls: small. Dude, you have a height of 5’6 and her 5’1. Dude, what’s wrong with you?” Val asked.
“Just let her go first.” I said
Karl and Val exchanged looks. Then they threw Kristina. I caught her, but she cried out in pain and I realized I’d grab her bruised arm.
“Oh man,” I said. “Kristina, I’m sorry.”
“It’s all right,” she said as she passed out in my arms.
“She needs help!” I yelled.
I tried to make her okay but she passed out and didn’t care in what I say. I dragged Kristina to the science lab, in some parts that the clinic was there. Good thing that Nurse Karen was there. Bad news, Haizel, Jillian and Andrea was there, chatting. They rushed towards us.
“What happened?” Andrea asked.
“Karl and Val…” I didn’t continue.
“What about them?” Haizel asked.
“They,” I said.
“They,” Jillian continued.
“They bet up Kristina.” I told them.
“Oh my, place her there!” Nurse Karen told me.
I placed Kristina on a small bunk bed. She wailed because I forgot to move her arm because she lay down on it.
“I’m sorry, Kristina.” I held her other hand.
“Bruce,” Nurse Karen said. “It’s best if you leave Kristina for a while. Attend your practice. She’ll be fine here.”
“OK” Then I left the science lab with the three.
