VAL'S POV

I don’t even remember Karl fighting me like this. Karl, Bruce and I were friends. When he’d gone seminar, he suddenly changed. He’s not like him. I think the seminary changed him. I looked for Nicole and Kristina and they weren’t there. Suddenly, Karl stopped a bit. Karl was focused on something that he was scared of. When I looked for it, it was Kristina, targeting on Karl with an arrow. I didn’t know that Kristina knows archery.

“Karl, it’s over!” Nicole said.

“It’s not over!” Karl yelled. “Stephen!”

“Ha! You think he’s coming?” Kristina said.

Bruce was struggling to hold Karl’s arm. “Kristina, what happened?”

“You’ll know later. But right now, we need to finish this problem of ours.” Kristina put down her bow and arrow and went straight to Karl. She kneeled in front of Karl. Karl wanted to escape but that didn’t stand a chance. His arms are in charge of us, Bruce and I and Nicole was… she’s gone!

Suddenly, Karl knelt too. When he knelt, a blade just passed through his throat. It was Nicole.

“Where’d you get that?” I asked Nicole.

“Krisa brought her knife.”

“Hey,” Kristina wailed.

“Continue,” I said.

“Since she brought her knife, I thought it might be handy.” Nicole said. “So, I got it from her small bag, placed it on my pocket and brought it everywhere I go.”

“Awesome.” Bruce said. “Kristina, you’re the best!”

“Thanks Bruce.” Then Kristina giggled.

“Hey,” I said. “Did Bruce tell you that he had a crush on you?”

“Yes. He-”

“That’s enough! Stop this love triangles or love scenes!” Then, Karl stood up and swayed his arm to the right.

Bruce, which was on the right side, where he’s securing the right arm, tumbled down and hit me on the other side. We landed body-to-body then Bruce fell down on my side. He dropped his arm on my belly.

“Ouch, what man!” I screamed.

“Sorry man, it’s just that I don’t have much energy. Sorry.” Bruce said.

The girls, I thought. They’re in trouble!

“NICOLE AND KRISTINA,” Bruce and I said it in the same time.

We stood up. We were looking for Karl but where is he? I elbowed Bruce and pointed at the right side to look for Karl. He nodded and went straight the other hallway, leaving me in the east wing. While I was walking the hallway, I balled my fists and was ready to face Karl. Suddenly, I stepped on something: a bow. Kristina’s now defenseless. I brought Kristina’s bow in case she needs it. Nicole is not that much good in fighting someone but she knows how to use a knife all right. Moments passed, Bruce screamed. I rushed towards him, knowing that I heard Bruce’s voice in the Third year’s classroom, right next to the boy’s CR. I opened the door. When it was open, I saw Nicole and Kristina tied up, back-to-back at each other. Their mouths are tied up with packing tape. Nicole and Kristina were… sleeping? I went towards them. But before I ran towards them, Bruce suddenly fell as if someone pushed them. His arms are tied up behind him. His mouth is taped with packing tape, too. Bruce now has a scar on his left side of his face. Then I heard a laugh.

“Val,” Karl said.

I prepared myself for a hand- to-hand combat.

Karl laughed. “Do you really think that this will be a hand-to-hand combat? No! It will be a face-to-fist battle!”
