It's hard to let your guard down and let people in. It helps with hours of tv-watching and long talks though. For every hour that I and Danny sit there, for every hour that I let him know more about me and he lets me know more about him, my wall slowly fades. I get know the story behind If you could see me now. About his dad and a little bit about Marks mom and dad. Also he tells me about his childhood and I tell him about the time after my parents died, the whole rebuilding process. But when we get to The Script-part, I don't really know what to ask. What do you ask? What does it feels like, having thousand of people all over the world, loving you? Obvious answer; it's great, the fans are such a support and him, Mark and Glen wouldn't be there if it wasen't for them. What about fame? I get to know that fame isn't that horrible, but then again him and the boys are in there for the music. Then I'm kinda out of things to ask. He makes music when it feels like he can't contain the emotions, banging the shit out of the piano instead of the person that made him angry or sad.
It's crazy, but we really do click. I like listening to him, it makes me calm in some weird way, like whatever I go through he will be able to give me advice. We got the same sort of humor, like in the middle of a serious moment when I for example am talking about my stepparents, we both see a 'that's what she said!' moment and shout it together.
The night goes by, we fall asleep in the sofa and I wake when Danny lightly is shaking my shoulder.
"Carrie... Carrie, wake up. I gotta talk to you."
I sit up, tired and a little bit confused. "What is it?"
"It's four o'clock. I gotta go." He says.
"What, where?" I ask.
"With the lads, I just wanted you to know, you can go back to sleep."
I shake my head. "No, no it's fine I gotta wake up now anyways."
"Okay, you want money for breakfast?"
"No, I'm fine..." I can't keep taking his money like this. He have bought dinner and lunch for me for the last couple of days, I can live without food for a little bit. My growling stommac tells him otherwise.
"Hey, why don't you just come with me, I'll buy you something." he laughs.
"Alright" I admit. "Just let me wash my face." I walk into the bathroom and wash it with cold water and also wash my mouth with a little bit of toothpaste and water to get rid of that horrible taste. Then I walk out again, we put our shoes on, grab our coats and walk outside. His friends is waiting for us now and I get a proper look at them when they're not drunk or in a musicvideo. Both of them rock skinny jeans, and they can actually pull it off. Hoodies and black Rayban wayfarers. We walk up to them.
"Hey guys" Danny says. "This is Carrie that I've told yis about." We shake hands and says hallo and nice to meet you and all of that.
"We're just gonna get something to eat and then we can go" he says. They nod and we walk up to a big, black bus, opes the door and go inside. Oh, tourbus. There's a sofa, a tv, a table and a fridge. A bit further in there's a couple of beds, just like in a ship, and another sofa. They casually take a seat so I do the same.
"So, you're hanging with Danny now, huh?" Mark says (I'm happy that I easily can tell them apart). I can't help but noticing the wonderful accent.
"Yep. Or until tomorrow at least, then I'm going..." I say. I wonder how much Danny have told them. And also what they think of me. I mean, isn't this against the rules or something... Like I could've just been a crazy journalist.
No one really got anything to say so look out the window and wish that I had my headphones and iPod with me.
The bus stops at Subway and I walk in with Danny to get us some food. We buy for Glen and Mark as well and when we come out, they stand outside. Casually. What's not as casually is that they just wave goodbye to three girls that walk away, giggling and fangirling. I look after them as we walk up to the bus. Danny just look at them and giggle. They smile back and we walk into the bus. Okay, wow. Kinda forgot that they are actually celebs. We eat on the bus, silence. The driver turns left and the pulls over. The lads stand up and walk out, but I'm not sure what to do so I stay. After a second I see Danny's head peak from behind the door. "You comin' or what?" he asks. So I follow him in. We walk down the stairs and the through a long white corridor with no windows. At the end of the corridor is a door that Mark unlocks and then we walk in. Another hallway, but a lot shorter, another door, all ready unlocked, and then we walk into a room. At first I'm a bit confused, I don't know what to expect, but then I see that I'm in a studio. There's a huge mixer table and a glass window that shows a mic and a couple of guitars, a drum set and a keyboard in the corner. Mark, Glen and Danny casually take a seat in three armchairs and so I do the same in a forth one. They take their leather jackets off and take up mac computers and turn them on. I watch them getting ready and then suddenly I hear music playing through the speakers. I don't know the song so I just watch the lads while they listen. They all got a very concentrated look, like they really listen.
I don't really understand more of the conversation that follows than that they are just doing some final touches on the song. At first I wonder what I'm doing there, and then Danny look over at me and asked if I maybe wanted to go back, but I shake me head. I really like the atmosphere in there. They laugh and joke a little bit but most of the time they are very concentrated. It's fascinating to watch actually. How they play the same part over and over again, to see how it all just fits into place, how they get an emotion in every single tune. We stay in that little world for a couple of hours until they're done with the song and then I go out to buy them coffee.
When I get back we just sit there, kinda having a break and chat and laugh. I get to know Mark and Glen a little bit better. I realize that I really like to talk to them, it's like listening to a play almost 'cause they are so intelligent and I don't know.. I like the way their thoughts go I guess. Like they can go from football to guitars to space to politics in a minute, but still it makes perfect sense you know?
"Cause you know we where playing football and suddenly this dude comes up and starts cheering and we just you know says hi and whatever, keeps playing. And they we are just gonna get some water, take a break, and I walk up to him to you know see how he are and you know he looked JUST LIKE you know that dude that just came in when we where going on stage in London just like, picked up a guitar and started jammin, but he sucked, you remember that guy?”
"Yeah, haha he was mad! Carrie, we where like backstage and this guy comes up like you know we thought that he was just going to pick up a guitar and you know check it or whatever but he starts to play and he goes FULL ON like a real rock star but the thing is that he was really bad at it. Oh god I just wanted to like get out on stage.”
”There was where that cool sign was right, the one with the like space pattern all over it..?”
”Yeah, oh that was really cool. But the quote was kinda weird did you guys get it? No, it wasn't even like anything about us you know it was like... Vote for Obama or something haha. Like what, we aren't even in America and it’s like years away to the selection."
Anyway then they like check their phones and drink the coffee and such. Danny turns to me and see me shaking my head. ”What?” he asks. ”Are we to mad for you now that you know us, haha. Damn it, I should’ve just stayed at the hotel, haha!”
”No” I smile. ”But you guys never shut up do ya? I guess the musician thing is perfect for you, your brain would probably explode if you held all that in haha.” I expect him to laugh and continue texting away on his phone, but it’s like he dosen’t listen anymore. ”That’s great” he mumbles, more to himself than to me.
”What?” I ask.
”Guys, Carrie just gave me this amazing idea. Like how cool wouldn’t it be if you could talk away on a song? You know just chat away?”
