Reminiscing the Past

Chapter 3

Steve's POV

Present

"We have to get her out of there!" I yelled running to the glass pressing my hands to the glass. Adeline floated in the water peacefully as I saw little bubbles float from her mouth. She had IV's hooked to her arms and around her stomach and a weird metallic cap on her head. I swung my arm back to punch the glass but Nat stopped me.

"Steve, she's alive we don't know how and if you break the glass you could kill her," she held my fist before walking around the machine quickly, "It looks like these tubes are giving her air to survive underwater."

"Who did this? I thought this was a Shield ship," I observed as we looked around the containment together.

"I don't know, but it looks like they're giving her some sort of drug, GH.325," Nat said pointing to a labeled tube above the tank that went into the metallic cap, "I've never heard of that drug before."

"Well we need to get her out of there now," I said urgently picking up my shield.

"Wait, Steve what if she can't survive without the drug, we can't..." Nat yelled but it was too late I whipped my shield at the containment and the glass cracked quickly around and broke as the water flowed to the ground along with Adeline. I grabbed her holding her in my arms taking the cap off her head and detaching the IV's.

"Vivian, we need you now," Natasha ordered through our coms.

In a few short seconds Vivian appeared in the room beside Nat and looked down at Adeline, "What the hell?" She said just before Adeline seemed to seize.

"What's going on?" I asked urgently as she started to shake.

"Viv, get us out of here," Nat commanded as Vivian lunged forward grabbing Nat's hand and on my shoulder as we appeared suddenly in the infirmary at Triskelion.

"Help!" I yelled as the doctors and nurses jumped at our appearance. I stood up scooping Adeline in my arms who was still in a seizure state.

"Here," one of the nurses said grabbing a gurnee and I set her down carefully.

A doctor came to my side, "What happened?"

"We're not sure, she's been gone for two years and we found her in a containment filled with water," Nat told her as they gathered around pushing her down the halls, "She was connected to a drug called GH.325."

The doctor paused for a moment before leading us down a different hallway and into a room. The one nurse looked at her before she started ushering us out.

"I need you all to get out now," the nurse ordered us.

"We just got her back! You can't make us leave!" Natasha fought back.

"Vivian you need to get Director Fury down here now," the doctor said beside Adeline while hooking up a machine.

"What are you doing?" I yelled.

"Please, I need Director Fury," she pleaded.

"Vivian, go!" Nat ordered before she disappeared and reappeared just as quickly with Fury.

"What's going on?" He said confused.

"Director, she was given GH.325," the doctor told him.

"Alright, everyone out!" He yelled, "That's an order!"

We got out of the room giving up and other nurses ushered us to a waiting room where we sat in silence. A few hours later Director Fury walked in through the door and we all stood up quickly, "How is she?" I asked.

"Adeline is stable the drug she was given was what helped keep her alive in the containment and her body seized at the sudden change. By what the doctors told me she had been there for a year or so which also adds to why she seized," he answered, "Unfortunately she hasn't awaken yet and we have no idea when she will. It seems her body has gone into a coma from the shock."

I sat down taking it all in, "Why was she there? I thought that was a Shield ship."

"The pirates must have taken over the ship sooner that we thought..." Fury said then Vivian cut him off.

"Or there's a bug in the system," she crossed her arms.

"The thought has crossed my mind," he nodded. I shook my head before getting up and storming out of the room. I needed to clear my head and get out of here.
