Chapter 3: My Mother's Return

Pale colours formed from my eye lids as i woke up, the sound a my siblings snoring broke the peace of the morning, the birds were singing, the sky was a pale yellow and the clouds looked seamlessly high. The dirt under my feet was damp and the air surrounding me was crisp and clean.

I lifted my tiny legs up, they shook as i began walking out of the den, as i looked around the other wolves were busy with their duties i walked over to were i have my food. I looked to the feast in front of me, the hunters have been busy, deer, pheasant, and some personal favourites. I began digging in to the wide spread of food in front of me, the new flavours i recently have discovered are much better than the milk i'm used to.

Shortly after finishing my breakfast my siblings woke up and ate everything that i hadn't chewed or the things i hadn't trampled on. I climbed up on top of the den, i struggled and fell but the view was immense. The sun could just been seen from the tips of the orange clouds and the birds brought colour to the pale sky above.

Howling in the distance made me feel so tall, and the loud barking of the pack's Tau, the most dreaded young wolves, rambunctious, curious, troublesome balls of fur, the problem is, what will they be getting up to today. I have always wanted to go on an adventure with the Tau but i'm not old enough yet to be classed as one.

Today was the day, the day my mother returned to the pack, her badly damaged neck was almost at full recovery. I began scanning through all the wolves i could see, my size is a disadvantage but being up on the den means i can see everyone, the endless shades of grey, black and brown filled the ground. I'm one of the only three pups in our pack, we get lot's of attention, but me mainly as i look nothing like my pack.

Everyone is either brown, black or grey but me and my mother are both white. Me and my mother are two of the only white wolves any wolf in our district knows, me are two of a kind. Many of the older wolves, like my older siblings tease me about it, but they won't be laughing when i become the Alpha male, it's my destine and i won't give up until i am.

In the distance of all the bustle of other wolves i spotted my mother, her snowy white fur, her pink ears and her sky blue eyes made her the prettiest wolf i know, i'm proud to say she's my mother. As she ran over to the den her fur fluttered in the breeze and her tail hovered from side to side ever so gently.

I jumped of the den into a pile and leaves, as i dived into the my body became encased in green, orange and red patches. Once i broke my fall i started digging my way out, digging trough all those dirty leaves made me look like any other wolf, i shook the fur of me and ran over to my mum. We began licking each other's shiny black noses.  

My siblings followed me and my mother into the den, she had some big news for us all,"Children, your father's location and been discovered, the pack is arguing a attack tonight and all of you will be coming-" We all gasped and cheered in excitement "But listen, the really big news is that, Echo" Everyone's eyes peered at me "-Echo has been chosen by the pack to become our temporary Alpha male and will be by my side in everything until your father is saved"

None of my siblings agreed, "No mum you can't, i'm the the oldest.

"Well Echo was the only one who showed the bravery to save me and it was the pack's decision"

"Mum, but the Alpha male and female are expected to ma-" Protested my oldest sister.

My Mother didn't look happy "How could you think the me and Echo, in fact Echo is only a temporary Alpha so he has no expectations, thank you!" She looked out side to see the pack heading to their meeting point, "Now we must meet up with the pack, the meeting has begun"

She returned back to her normal tempered self, she never could stay angry for long. But she sure is strong.
