Chapter 5: No Disagreement

Contently I sat and watched my siblings. My mother was busy organizing the next stage of our plan. The sound of water was close, the river must be close. As we began walking the sweet sound of flowing water became louder and louder, within minutes the endless shades of green streaked into a blinding sequel of blue. The river flew fast, the white froth bubbled to the muddy bank, where our paws sat strongly.

My mother put her nose into the water ,"We can't cross it's too dangerous" We'll have to go around"

My uncle didn't look happy "But, we will have to walk down the river, away from the falls we should-"

Mother, was the Alpha female and what she's says is final "You have questioned my authority too many times Lycan, now listen me WILL walk around, i've not brought everyone here to drown!" She began looking towards my uncle when she promptly turned and walked off.

No one liked disagreeing with her, so they began walking beside the flowing water. The solid breeze was a refreshing touch to the sun's scorching blaze of heat. As I looked beside me the fish of the river inter winded within the strong current. This was the closest I had been to water.

The further we ventured the thinner the river became, it took so long. The picturesque scene was a sight to remember, our pack to at the foot of a white, chalky cliff. The foliage hung over the top of the cliff. The river was now just a tickle of icy tears, dripping of the cliff. We walked through the sloppy dirt to towards the other side of the marshy lands.

Our pack had made it. We trekked to the near edges of the cliff, stumbling and tripping at every step. Then, we began stopping at a safe point. I struggled through the crowd to the front, my uncle had something to say, he face was pierced the thistles and thorns. "We have some bad news, the dam ahead has broken, the area has flooded. We have to go through the Half Moon Forest."

The half moon forest, the place of supernatural beings. Vampires, witches, fairies, ghosts; the list never ends. The half moon forest, it's the death of many. The tales told. It's uncanny.

But he had to go in, it was our only hope. The lifted our tired legs and continued, this was impossible. The crimson path twisted and coiled in out of the trees scattered around the landscape, the forest was in sight. The green sky painted over the purple trees. Silver stars dusted the dreams above.

Trees...

...Trees

Nothing else. The grass we tinted with golden flowers, each one trampled on by the careless wolves. My eyes shut. Opened. Shut. I as tired. My head tilted to the ground. My paws shook but I didn't lose my strengths. I looked to the path ahead, there was no one. My pack had gone. The legs collapsed. The eyes gave in. Thick grass cushioned my fall. Multitudes of colour danced between the last remaining space in my eyes. The whole spectrum. Pasty green leaves fell to the hell beneath me.

No one was around. I looked to my side. No one. Back to my front. Suddenly a white faced beast stood infront of me. Darkness spread through it's eyes like wildfire. It's pearly, sharp long teeth pierced it's lower pale lip. It has a he. His crimson blood trickled down his chin, leaving a ruby red trail  behind. His chalky white face illuminated in the darkness of the froest. His face was like then moon, with an unnerving coldness to it. His raven black hair trickled across his scalp. His blood stained cloaked most of his skeleton like body.

Closer and closer i got. His long ghostly finger glided beneath him. Again I looked at his eyes, now as red as a rose. He was as sinister and dark as death himself. His high pitched screech broke the silence. The murmur of retreating birds followed his shout. Until bourne on the wind it settled quietly.

I watched him. Our eyes met. I relenting force pushed my back. Crimson foam spewed from my neck. My paws bled from the pounding force. The beast bit at me. Leaving a clear red mark at my thigh. I ran.

Him and others encompassed me against a small tree. I barked. I stood my ground. No way was I going to over power him. But, it was the only thing I could do. They circled me. I waited with a sick feeling of suspense.

With no thought I ran. I scuttled through the ghostly undergrowth. Zig zagging in and out of trees and rocks. I took a stumble over a pile of dirt, I rocked and tumbled as my body shook. Down I went. The branches cut and scratched my body. The wind moaned and whilsted, then the brisk sound slipped through rocks and foliage.
