Hi. My name is Alison Reagan and I have 4 siblings Danny, Erin, Joe, and Jamie. Joe was killed in the line of duty a little while ago though.
I have been stationed in Iraq for the past two years and I haven't been home in awhile.
I was making my bed when my commander called me over.
"Reagan, I have some news." He said.
"What is it, sir?" I asked curiously.
"You are going home." He said then smiled. "It has been an honor working with you so far."
"Please the honor is all mine." I said smiling.
I decided that I was going to surprise my family.
A few hours later I called the mayor and asked for a favor.
'Hello?' He asked when he answered.
"Mr. Mayor, it's Alison Reagan I need a favor." I said.
'For you serving our country, anything. You name it.' He said.
"I was hoping you would say that." I said.
'What do you need?' He asked.
"I'm coming home and I want to surprise my family-"
'Done.' He said.
"I was thinking a Yankees game." I said.
'I'll pull a few strings and get it done I will set everything up and won't tell anyone about this. I will let you know when have someone inform you.' He said and I agreed.
"Thank you, Mr. Mayor. This means a lot to me." I said.
'No, thank you for everything you are doing for our country. This is the least I can do. If you need anything at all don't hesitate to ask.' He said and I smiled.
"I won't. Have a nice day."
'You to.'
A day later my commander told me that he got the whole family the best seats money could buy at the Yankees game tomorrow for free. Which was just enough time for me to get there then head straight to the stadium.
After a day and a half on a plane I was finally back in New York after two years.
I hailed a cab and went straight to the stadium.
When we got there I went to pay but the man stopped me.
"It's in the house. Thank you for your service." He said and I smiled.
"Have a nice day." I told him.
I walked to the ticket stands and told them my name like the mayor told me and they let me in and let me to the Yankees dugout where I would wait for my cue.
It was kind off awesome being in the Yankee dugout but I wish they would treat me like a normal person and not like a hero.
Because believe me, I am no hero. Heroes don't do what I have.
"Before the game begins I have an announcement to make. Could I have the Reagan family make it to the field? Alison Reagan was born and raised in Brooklyn. When she was 17 she joined the army and she has been deployed in Iraq for 2 years now and she wanted to do something for her family so they new she was still here." The announcer said.
The video I recorded showed up on the jumbotrons.
'Hi. My name is Alison Reagan and I have been deployed for 2 years now. I have been so busy lately and I haven't had time to call my family as much as I should have but I hope this makes up for it. I decided I wanted to do something special to show my family that I still need them no matter how many miles are put between us.' I watched my family as they watched the video from the field.
'What better way to say I love you then a good old baseball game with the family team.
I love you guys so much and I hope to make it home soon.' With that the video ended.
The coach walked up to me.
"Go get them." He said and shook my hand.
With that I started walking into the field my family was facing away from me so they didn't know.
"Alison is a sniper for the US army and her commanding officer said that she has 98% accuracy. He also said 'I don't know what we would have done without Reagan. I swear half of my men would be dead then the other half would be severely injured.' It looks like Alison is more than just a hero to us but she is also a hero to them." By this time I am a couple yards away from my family.
I quietly crept up next to Jamie.
"You know, I wish they would lay off the whole hero thing for a while. It's just a little to much." I said as he watched the slideshow that someone made of me.
Jamie looked down and saw me then looked back to the screen.
'3...2...1'
"ALLIE!" He shouted and picked me up and twirled me around. I hugged him back and smiled into his shoulder.
"Alison Reagan has finally returned home after 2 years of hard work. Thank you for your service, Alison."
Jamie pulled away and looked at me, before I knew it I was off the ground being squeezed to death.
The short black hair reassured me that it was just Danny who had picked me up.
After a few minutes he was still hugging me.
"Danny? You can let me go now. I'm not going anywhere for awhile." I said.
"No, you're not going anywhere...ever." Everyone laughed eventually Erin pulled me out of his grip and into her own.
"I missed you so much Allie. I barely made it out sane." She said and I laughed half heartedly.
After hugging her I hugged dad then pops then the rest of the family.
Nikki was particularly attached, I would have to ask her about that later.
We went back to our seats and watched the game. Because come on there is no excuse for missing a baseball game willingly.
I was in the car with Jamie when I got a phone call.
"Hello?" I asked noticing it was an unknown caller.
'Hello, Ms. Reagan.'
I pulled the phone away from my ear and told Jamie to pull over.
He did so and I got out of the car.
"Stay in the car." I told Jamie when he moved to get out.
"Who is this?" I asked the person on the phone.
'You don't remember me? I'm hurt.' Said the accented voice.
"Well maybe if you gave me a clue." I said playing his game.
I turned and saw Jamie on the phone with most likely dad or Danny.
'Here's your hint. You killed my brother. Now I'm going to kill you.' He said.
I walked back over to the car and looked around.
"Where the hell are, you son of a bitch?" I asked gaining the attention of Jamie.
'Closer than you think. You know I saw your little reunion and it would be so easy to kill him right now.' He said.
"You so much as put a hair out of place on his head and I will shoot you in the face. Then I'll go after everyone you love and shoot them in the face." I said almost yelling at him.
'My, my, you definitely get your temper from Danny.' He said and I froze.
I leaned in the car pulled the phone away from my ear.
"Call Danny." I said.
"You still haven't what you want or who you are." I said.
'I told you, you killed my brother and I want revenge.'
"Well, I'm sorry. I have killed a lot of people's brothers. So what makes you think you are so special?" I asked.
'Because you killed him right in front of me.' He said and I was pulled into a flashback of me killing a man with a boy no older than 15 standing right next to him.
Later I did research in him and found out his name was Malachi Omir.
That's when I found out who he was.
"Malachi Omir." I said.
'Ah. So you do remember me. And it looks like a guilty conscience did its homework as well.' He teased.
"You want revenge? Fine. Name the time and place and we can end this. I'm right here. I killed your brother right I front of you. What are you gonna do about it?" I said then hung up.
I got in the car and Jamie was looking at me.
He handed me his phone and saw he was still on the phone with Danny.
Great.
"Hello" I said.
'What the hell are you thinking?' He yelled. 'Why the hell would you bait someone who wants your head on a plate extra bloody?'
"Because Danny I need to end this. And the only way that was going to happen was if I baited him. So that is what I did. He is the one who decided to come after me. So if he can't handle it then he should have stayed in Afghanistan." I said just as loud. "Oh and another he threatened all of you. You, Jamie, Erin, Sean Jack... Do you want me to end it now?" I asked and hung up knowing I would get an earful later.
I had Jamie take me to the nearest army base.
"You can go home. I'll be fine." I said.
He was reluctant but nodded.
I went in the base and looked around.
I found myself at the SMA office.
I knocked and heard a faint come in.
I walked in the door a little bit and saluted him.
"At ease." He said and I relaxed.
"What can I do for you Lt. Commander?"
"Sir, I have a problem." He nodded and gestures for me to take a seat.
"What's the problem ma'am?" He asked.
"I have someone after me for revenge for killing his brother back in Afghanistan. I need permission to use my weapon on
U. S. soil while he is after me." I said and he looks thoughtful.
"What is the mans name?" He asked.
"Malachi Omir. He was 15 when I shot his brother he had a bomb in his hand. I had to take him down. There was no other choice." I said.
He pressed a button on his phone and asked for the file of Malachi Omir.
One of the privates brought in in. And he looked it over after he was done he handed it to me.
I looked at it and I was shocked. He was now a huge terrorist. He loved to see people's fear and pain. I was still reading when SMA Fuller spoke.
"Based on how ruthless this man is, the U. S. Army hereby gives you permission to make him a target and take him down. Good luck Lt. Commander," He said while standing up then saluted me.
I stood and saluted.
"Thank you, sir." I said leaving his office. I walked to where they had the humvees where army staff could sign them out while on leave.
I signed one out for my leave and turned the paperwork over to the worker. I got in and put the file in the passenger seat. I went back to the house where I saw everyone was parked.
