It had been a few weeks since I been shot and I was almost done with my leave.
I was doing some thinking and and I was almost 2 months pregnant an the only people who really knew were my boss, bones, and Nikki.
I walked into Nikki's school and went to the office.
"Can I sign out Nikki Reagan-Boyle, please." I ask the desk lady and she says yes because she remembers I'm her aunt.
Nikki walks into the office looking panicked.
I lead her out of the school and we get into my car.
"What's wrong aunt Allie?" Nikki asks.
"I need your help." I said and looked over to her and she nods her head. "I have to tell the others I'm pregnant, but-"
"You don't want them to be mad at you." She said.
"Yeah." I said. "So I need a way to tell them."
"You could tell them at Sunday lunch." She suggests.
"Yeah. But how?" I say.
"You could just tell them, or you could get them each a gift, or a card. Ooh. You could get a card or a gift and put a copy of your ultrasound in it." She said.
"You could get pops and grandpa a card and a picture frame with the baby's ultrasound, then mom, uncle Jamie, and uncle Danny you could get a card and a onesie, and Jack and Sean you could just get a card." He said.
"Have you had lunch yet?" I asked her and she shook her head no. "Well I'm buying I said pulling into a restaurant.
We got everything we need for the surprise and at 3:30 Erin called Nikki.
"Hello?" She asks.
"Don't worry. I'm fine, just helping aunt Allie with something." She said a minute later Nikki hands the phone to me.
"She wants to talk to you." Nikki said.
"Can you work on these while I talk to your mom?" I ask and she nods.
I put the phone to my ear.
"Hello?" I asked.
"I thought I made it clear that you were not to take Nikki out of school for one of your nikkallie days." She said.
"Do people actually call it that?" I ask.
"Allie. Why did you take Nikki out of school?" Erin asks me.
"That's why I had to take Nikki out of school because I needed her help telling you." I said.
"Telling me what." She asked.
"Exactly. And she suggested I wait until Sunday dinner." I said.
"Ok. But I want my daughter home by 6." She said and hung up.
I went back to Nikki and saw that she was wrapping the last gift. We sat them in a pile and left them there to wait.
At 5:30 I drove Nikki home not wanting to push Erin any further then we already had.
Sooner than I would have liked Sunday rolled around and we were sitting at dinner and Erin cleared her throat.
"So, Allie you said you were going to wait until Sunday dinner to tell me why you had to pull Nikki out of school. It's Sunday dinner." She said.
"Yeah. Aunt Allie." Nikki encouraged sending me a smile.
"Um, yeah." I said and got up. "I took Nikki out of school because I needed her help with...something. She helped me pick out a gift for each of you, to say thank you for being the best family I could ask for." I said and gestured Nikki to follow me.
"Now you're just sweet talking us." Danny called after me.
Nikki helped me carry in the boxes and cards.
"You have to open them at the same time." I said.
Nikki helped me pass out the presents and the cards.
When I sat down everyone started to open their present.
Danny opened the card for him and Linda while she opened the present.
He read it and looked at me.
"Are you serious?" He looked at me.
I nodded my head scared of what he was thinking.
He got up and walked around the table and pulled me into a hug.
By now everyone had opened their present and was cheering dad pulled me into a hug next he kissed my head.
As soon as he let me go I was crushed by Linda and Erin.
"How far along are you?" Erin asks crying.
"Almost 2 months." I said.
Danny was in the middle of a drink and started coughing when I said that.
"2 months?" He asked and I nodded. The girls let me go and Jamie hugged me tight.
"Why didn't you say anything? Is it ok after what happened 2 weeks ago?" Danny asks.
I sat back down and nodded.
"Aunt Allie, I don't understand." Sean said and Jack nodded in agreement.
"Sean, Jack how would you feel about having a new cousin around?" I ask them they nod their heads really fast.
"Well bones and I are having a baby in August." I said and they got up and hugged me.
"Wait, wait. So let me get this straight, you are working as a field agent knowing that you are pregnant?" Danny asks.
"Yes." I said.
"Does your boss know?" He asked me.
"Yes, Danny, and we agreed that I would work in the field until it became a problem."
"Until it became a problem? You were shot. I would say that counts as a problem because not only are you endangering your life, you're endangering that babies. Do you really not want to be a mother that bad." He said and I got up from my seat and walked out the door without another word.
I was pissed. Who does Danny think he is?
He doesn't know how I feel about this baby.
I was scared at first but now I've warmed up to the idea of having a baby boy or girl running around.
I pulled up to bones' apartment building and got out.
I walked in and my phone started ringing.
I looked at it and saw that it was Danny so I ignored it and turned my phone off.
I went up in the elevator to the 6th floor and walked to bones' apartment.
I knocked and he opened the door.
He looked at me and pulled me into a hug.
"What's wrong." He asked. I shook my head. "Then why are you crying?" He asked me.
What? I'm not...
I felt my face to find it wet from the tears leaking from my eyes.
"I told my family I was pregnant and Danny said that I was a bad mother already for working in the field." I cried.
"Shh. Don't listen to him. He didn't mean it. We are going to be great parents to this baby." He said trying to comfort me.
"We?" I ask.
"You didn't think I was going to leave you alone in this, did you?" He asks kissing my head. "I have actually been wanting to ask you something." He said pulling me away to look at him. "I have known you since you were 19 and in Afghanistan and what I want to know is if you will officially be my girlfriend and move in here with me. We can look at houses for us and the baby later." He said and I kissed him giving him my answer.
