My squad consists of 7 people. I'm not in command. I do hold authority but I'm not in command. I'm not planning on letting Cassandra go, I just don't plan on letting her die.

We found sightings of her three towns over. She usually appears on film for the entirety of 4 days before she doesn't show up for a while. Then she appears in a new town.

Today is her second appearance in the town we're going to. We have a bus and are ordered not to kill her. Despite my wife's protests, she still gets to hold trial when we capture her. The trial is pretty much between all of the decendents so after the capture, it's out of my hands.

We drove into the SF base of that town. And checked out the footage. I sat inside so that I could see the footage first-hand.

They were all confused as to what Cassandra even looked like. They have a holographic model of her but they don't know how she carries herself, how she walks, talks.

"Move aside.", I moved in front of all of the cameras. There was a woman alone by a lake who kind of looked like her but her walk was more like a saunter. If I were on the run, you'd never catch me sauntering around some lake. That's not even close to Cassy's normal walk. I looked to the cameras above a little minimart. I had an inkling that that's where she'll appear. Based on previous evidence, she visits small marts, not big ones anyways. Not to mention this is a small town, so there are only two minimarts. This one is closer to the edge of town.

"Focus on this camera."

"What for? She's not there."

"But she will be. Cassandra is smart. There's no way she'll come out in the daytime. Where she has little chance of dissappearing before trouble."

"Fine then. You can watch the cameras until Cassy appears since you know so much.", said one of the more, annoying teammates.

"I had planned to do so anyways."

Cassandra's posture is confident. She stands tall and strong. She walks in quick, yet graceful strides. She doesn't look around because she's not paranoid. She isn't scared of anyone. Well she wasn't. That may have changed since she's been on the run.

Someone in all black entered the minimart. She stood tall and walked with the same posture that Cassy would. Swiftly. I waited for her to come out. "That's her."

"Let's go!", the captain yelled. We hit the streets and took of in her direction.

We caught the woman right before she hit the forest.

"Cassy!", I yelled.

The woman turned, "Elian.", she mouthed before sprinting into the forest.

"It's her.", I told my crew before sprinting after her.

I ran up right across from her. I could see her. I looked forward to see if there was a possibility of me cutting ahead of her.

I made my decision. I ran ahead, jumped over a huge log and ran directly in front of her. I stopped and pointed my gun but she wasn't facing me.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Three explosions went off right behind her. I realized that if I hadn't chosen to run ahead, I would be dead.

The woman turned around and I stood my ground.

"Cassy.", I said in an authoritative tone, though I was so scared that I could've pissed myself.

"Not you too Elian.", she panted. Her eyes widened suddenly and she whipped around. She turned away from me even though I was pointing a gun at her.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

She threw out three small balls and they exploded into the, already alight, forest.

I saw a lazer, even though there was already so much light, on a tree to my left. I grabbed Cassy's arm and ran ahead.

BOOM!

A bigger bomb went off and me and Cassy flew forward. I covered my head protectively as I slammed into the ground. I spit blood onto it as I sat up. I should've known that those bastards would be so reckless. If the injure me they'll pay the price. They must've forgotten.

Cassy was nowhere in sight. "Cassy!", I whisper-yelled. That's when I felt the barrel of a gun at the back of my head. "W-wait!"

"What?"

"Don't kill me. I never betrayed you."

"Then what do you call this?"

"They aren't supposed to bomb back. They're disobeying orders. You're supposed to have a trial."

"You and I both know that I wouldn't make it to trial."

"Just wait. I came here to give you a message."

She pushed the gun closer.

"From Renee!"

BOOM!

Another bomb went off and Cassy threw more bombs out in response.

We both ran further and ducked behind a huge tree. "Renee... she wants you to know..."

I panted, struggling to catch my breath. "She wants you to know that she's moved on, that she's happy!"

Cassy didn't look back at me. She just nodded. "That's...", I heard a sniffle, "That's good."

"That's great.", I said, "If only it were true."

I cursed myself. "Well what's the truth?", Cassy asked.

"The truth is, not only is she a depressed workaholic but she's also pregnant."

"What? Are you sure?"

"As positive as the pregnancy test."

"B-but that's impossible. I'm supposed to be infertile."

"I guess you're not."

Cassandra stared hard at the floor with her fists balled. "Thank you Elian. Your friendship is true."

My eyes watered. "Of course Cassy. Will I ever see you again?"

"Hopefully not. For your safety." Cassandra stood and took off into the forest.

I stood up and ran in the opposite direction back to the town. When I exited the trees and smoke my team was practically in a panic.

"What happened?! Why'd you just run ahead? We're a team!", my commander yelled.

"A team?! One of you almost killed me!"

"They will be dealt with accordingly. Don't do that again. Stay with the team next time."

"Yes mamn."

"What happened to the target?"

"Got away. A bomb interrupted my pursuit.", I faced my team, "A bomb from this side."

"Then we have no choice but to withdraw.", my commander marched away.

How are you liking the story? I'm thinking of starting another one. Do you think I should keep this as my main book and not start a new one until it's finished or should I just go right ahead and put this book on hiatus?
