(Harry's POV)

"What?"

My eyes were wide and my chin had dropped. How could I be paired with him?

"S-Sir... I believe you have made an error in reading. Are you sure Malfoy and I are paired?"

"Yes double check yourself."

I glanced over at Malfoy who looked beyond pissed. His eyes were stone and a deadly scowl was on his lips.

"Hmm... Let me see... Ah... Yes. Malfoy and Potter are to be sharing the same room."

My heart stopped. I couldn't possibly be with him. Did the headmaster not know that he was a death eater who hated me to no end?

I couldn't believe this was happening to me. Me of all people... The Golden Boy, The Boy Who Lived, Savior of Hogwarts...

I decided in my head that fighting would do nothing. I mean being with Draco for a year would not be that difficult would it? Wait scratch that... Yes it would be.

After breakfast we made our ways to our classes. Hermione laid a soft hand on my shoulder and gave me a small smile before walking away. Ron gave me a half smile and walked hand in hand with her.

This was going to be the first time I roomed here without Ron...

I walked into DADA and sat down at the far end of the room. My robes hugged my body in the cold room and my glasses fogged from the heat escaping my uncovered skin. Other students started to slowly pour in before they could be counted late and sat down happily at the tables. Soon the room was filled with life that was untouched by any evil that had once resided here.

I sighed and looked down at the table before me. I wished I could steal their innocence and let them live my horrifying tale. But... at the same time... no. I could never force my pain onto someone else. Even if it were for a second of relief.

As I was swimming through my thoughts the new teacher walked in.

"Good morning boys and girls! I am Cassandra Mockinggale and I am your newest instructor for Defense Against the Dark Arts."

She stood at the front of the room dressed in an ivory gown that flowed to the floor. Her hands were clasped and held at her stomach as she stood tall and brave in front of the new students.

As I looked at her more closely and I noticed she was young. Maybe just hitting her mid 20's. Her golden hair flowed behind her and her pale skin was the brightest thing in the classroom.

"Now everyone bring out your books and turn to page three. I will give you give 10 minutes to read the text and memorize the five main dragon cries and their distinctions."

My eyes widened. We never did this before. I opened my book and turned to the page.

The pictures moved and the emerald serpent like dragon slithers down to the bottom. My eyes widened in amazement as I watched the creature play on the pages.

I suddenly focus and start studying the dragon sounds. The smallest dragons are known for their cackling roar, the wingless use the whistling hiss, and ect.

"Five minutes class."

I pale and continue to study. Some of them had similar sounds so I had to pay attention.

The five minutes later the teacher waves her wand and our books close and get "magnetized" to our desks.

I look up at her but she had vanished. Suddenly without warning a loud and terrifying roar erupted from nowhere. All the students, including myself, looked around frantically in fear.

"Now everyone write down what kind of cry that was."

I looked back down at my desk to see a quill, ink and parchment waiting for me. My eyes widened a little But I get over my shock and start answering as the ground shaking cries come.

If this is what the first day was going to be like, then this was going to be an interesting year...
