Chapter 11~Blood~Lindsay

I handed Jane the first aid kit, my stomach churning.

"Jace, get her out of here before she vomits everywhere!" Jane growled, laying the cloth she was holding against Ryder. I felt Jace grab my arm and didn't push him away as he dragged me out of the room. Once we were out I could feel my stomach going back to normal.

"What happened?" I asked. Jace was staring a head of us as we walked, his jaw clenched

"Donnie happened. I'm not exactly sure of the details, Ryder could barely talk. I think he got some pictures of Janie making out with another guy. And if you haven't noticed, Ryder is kind of possessive." I nodded as we turned the corner. I sat down on the bench and stared up at him.

"Does that worry you at all? Him being so possessive of Jane? Has he ever. . ."

"No. He isn't a piece of shit like that boyfriend of yours." I recoiled against the wall, shutting my eyes.

"Sorry. I'm just worried about Ry." I waved my hand, assuring him it was okay.

"Jace?"

"Hmm?"

"Isn't that one of Donnie's guys?" I pointed across the room, trying not to show him my panic. Jace turned slowly to look at the man dressed in black leaning against the wall.

"Jace. . ." I started to say, but he made a sound and held his hand out to me, stopping me from finishing.

"Let's go. We can't let him know who you are." He muttered as I stood up. Just as I was going to follow him out of the room, my eyes flickered to Donnie's minion.

"Jace. Shouldn't we act like we aren't effected? He might back off if. . ."

"I. . . I don't want him going after you, Lindsay." Jace snapped, his eyes darkening. I squeezed his arm, smiling.

"I know, Jace. That's why we have to act like we aren't afraid." He sighed in defeat and we sat back down on the bench. My eyes met the strangers and I slowly forced a smile on to my face.

He couldn't know he effected me, he couldn't. . .

"Are you okay?" Jace asked, looking over at me. I nodded, looking toward at our hands. I had laced my fingers through his own, my cheeks went warm as I tried to pull them away. He shook his head, not even attempting to look at me.

"Don't let go.'' He whispered, trying to keep his voice emotionless. I could tell something was obviously bugging him so I squeezed his hand and smiled.

"I won't."

"You confuse me, Brenner. How can you actually like Jace? He's a criminal. . ." I stared at Jane as she trailed off. Ryder and Jace were both passed out of my bed, facing opposite directions.

"I don't like him the way you think, Jane. I try to see the best in people, that's the way I was raised. I know you have your issues, but I can still see that you are a great person." She frowned, her eyes glistening with tears.

"How could you say that? You don't even know me."

"I can see it in your eyes. In the way you look at Ryder. You're a nurturer. You care about the people." She smiled, quickly wiping the stray tear that had escaped her eye. I felt someone's hands wrap around my waist and I screamed.

"What the hell!" I screamed, turning to face Jace. He was smirking, the tiredness clear in his eyes.

"You were getting too chick flickish on us." I felt butterflies in my stomach as I tried to pried his hands from my waist.

"Jace, stop flirting with her." He scoffed from behind me, dropping his hands.

"I am not flirting. I'm just playing around." Jane rolled her eyes and looked at Ryder who had been stirred awake by our bickering. Her face started to pale before she darted toward the bathroom.

"Jane!" I yelled, running in after her. She was hunched over the toilet, her hands gripping it. I walked over and pulled her hair back, glancing away from the sick girl. My eyes fell on a pregnancy test in the waste basket.

"Jane. . ." I whispered as she flushed the toilet. She shook her head, seeing where I was looking.

"Don't tell him, please. Neither of them." I was in so much shock that I barely heard what she said.

"A. . . are you. . ."

"I. . . I think so. Please, Lindsay. Don't tell them." I nodded, holding my hand out to her. She smiled, taking it.

"Thank you, Lindsay. I owe you." I waved her off and we headed back into the room. Ryder had sat up and was staring in our direction worriedly, while Jace stared at us suspiciously.

"Are you okay, Janie?" He asked, reaching out for her. She nodded, sitting beside him. Jace stood up, his gaze on me suddenly intense. He grabbed my arm and dragged me toward the bathroom.

"Is she pregnant?" He growled, causing me to back up in surprise. How in the world would he have known that?

"Lindsay, I need to know if she's pregnant. I need you to. . ." His voice had started to rise as he had bent down to talk to me, so I did the first thing that came to mind. I kissed him. His hands immediately went to the back of my neck as he pulled me against him. Dammit, Jane better appreciate this.

"Can you guys get a room?" Ryder was only half joking. Jace pulled away from me, his eyes wide.

"I think you guys better go." Jane cut in, giving me a strange look. Jace didn't question her and immediately went over to his friend and helped him out of the room. I stood frozen as I watched them leave. It was then that Jane asked what we were both thinking.

"What the hell was that?"
