I sat on the couch, staring at the front door in anticipation. I could still remember the day Bryson had called and said that he had been able to get a lawyer for Jace and he would get released."I'll pick him up. You stay here with Jason." Ryder had offered. That had been almost two hours ago. I had paced around the room for the first hour and had to feed Jason for the next half hour.
"No, man. I mean it!" My heart started racing at the sound of Ryder's voice. I stood up, wiping my sweaty palm on my jeans. The minute the door opened I grinned, tears immediately rushing to my eyes. Jace walked over and pulled me into a hug, before kissing me.
"I missed you. You don't even know how much I missed you, Lindsay." I didn't let go when he tried to pull away, I was afraid he'd slip out of my grip again. Ryder looked back and forth between us before smiling.
"I better get back down to the mechanic shop. See you guys at dinner tonight." He saluted us before walking out of the loft. I finally pulled away from Jace and dragged him down the hall.
"Where are we going?" He asked, smirking. I pushed the door to the nursery open and smiled at our son.
"Jace, this is Jason." Jace's whole body went straight as I picked up my son and kissed his forehead. He giggled and tugged at the hem of my shirt.
"Do you want to hold him?" He shook his head, and I saw exactly why. His eyes were flickering with fear, his mouth open.
"Don't worry, Jace. He won't bite, not yet anyway." I grabbed Jace's hand with my free one and laid it against Jason's. His small hand immediately grasped on to Jace's finger.
"Alex, this is Daddy." I said, nodding at Jace.
"Alex?" Jace questioned quietly.
"It's what Jane and Ryder call him. I guess I must be getting used to it." I replied, laughing. Slowly Jace moved closer and Jason dropped his finger. He suddenly opened his arms toward Jace, squirming in mine.
"He wants you to hold him." I said holding Jason out to him. He hesitantly took him from me. Jason laid his head against Jace's shoulder, yawning.
"I'm scared." Jace whispered, looking at me. I frowned.
"Scared of what?"
"Being a father. I. . . I never had one. I don't know if I can be one, Lindsay. I. . ." I laid my head against him, rubbing my hand up and down our sons back.
"You'll be a great father Jace. He already loves you." He smiled down at his son, running his free hand along my arm.
"Thank you." He whispered.
"For what?" I narrowed my eyes at him.
"For everything. For being with me, for having my child. For loving me." He leaned down, careful not to wake Jason, and kissed me.

"Nope. You're filthy. Go wash your hands!" Jane snapped at her husband, pointing down the hall. Ryder stuck his tongue out at her before obeying her order. Jace was still staring at our son, who at the moment was playing on the carpet with Cece.
"Do they always play together?" I wasn't sure if he wasn't asking Jane or me so I just let her answer.
"Yeah. It's actually really cute. They always share their toys." I nodded along with her. Jace smiled and kissed me gently.
"We have such a great family." He stated.
"We do." I agreed.

"Is he asleep?" I asked Jace groggily. He nodded, yawning as he climbed back into the bed beside me.
"He wanted you, I think. I guess I would too. Who would want some big strange man in their bedroom." I giggled and rolled over to look at him.
"Well I guess I would." He laughed. I laid my head back against his chest, shutting my eyes. By no means was my life perfect, I wasn't the perfect girl my parents had wanted me to be. I never was. And maybe one day Angelo would get out of jail and make our lives a living hell again. But I need to focus on the now. On my boyfriend and our two year old son. On my best friend and her family. Because after all, isn't love the strongest emotion?
