I was sitting on my bed finishing my homework when I looked at the clock. It was a few minutes past 7 so I packed my homework up and went downstairs.
"Honey, did you finish your homework?" My mom asked.
"Yeah I'm just heading over to Sam's for a bit "
"Ok have fun, be home by 9."
I left my house and walked to Sammy's. He was already on his drive way with Johnson probably talking about the big game. Sam looked behind Jack and smiled.
"Hey Melanie."
"Hello Samuel, it's been a while," I laughed even though it was only like a few hours since we last spoke.
"I know oh my god girl I haven't seen you in like forever!" He came over and hugged me like most girls hug each other.
He let go and Jack turned to me.
"Hi Mel," he looked at me and then at the ground. It's literally the cutest thing ever.
"Hi Jack, what's good?" We all laughed and walked to the basketball courts at the park.
I was so nervous. Basketball is not my thing and I'm supposed to somehow help Sammy prepare for the big basketball game next week. He's been so nervous but he's the best player. He knows I don't like basketball but I would do anything for him. Except date him because come on its Sammy and I've known him for too long and we could never ruin our friendship.
"So Mel, I heard you don't like basketball," Jack said.
"Yeah I don't but Sam asked me to help him and I wouldn't say no, so that's why I'm here," I looked at him and couldn't help but stare into his blue eyes. You could get lost in them for hours.
"Melanie," he smiled, "you're blushing."
"Oh god! I'm sorry," I didn't even realize how long I was looking in his eyes. How am I going to play freakin basketball without embarrassing myself again?
As we reached the courts, Sammy stopped us.
"Ok so we're gonna keep switching things up, so first I'm gonna go against Jack. Then It'll be me and Melanie against Jack, and finally, Jack and Melanie against me." He looked at his watch and then back at us. "We've got half an hour to practice since my mom wants me home by 8:30 and it takes a few minutes to walk back so let's make this quick."
My body was shaking as I watched Sammy walk over to me with the ball.
"Ok Mel so since it's just Jack and I playing this round, you get to throw the ball up ok?" He handed me the ball and walked to the middle of the court where Jack was.
"Ok so I just stand between you two, throw it up and wait until the next round?"
"Exactly!" Sammy shouted as he got in his ready position as did Jack.
"You ready?" I looked at Sammy who nodded. "Jack?" I turned to him and he nodded.
I threw the ball in the air and the boys went for it.
The next chapter is going to be about the whole basketball practice . I don't play basketball so if I make a mistake or something like that then just tell me.
