When we last left off my Wattpad stories, Hearts On Fire was just released. Now today, I'm A Mess has been released. But we're getting ahead of ourselves, let's go to All I Want For Christmas.
The scene is 1999. The ages of everyone are correct back then.
So Lynne Cimorelli was pregnant during the fall of 1999. Lisa was starting Elementary school and Amy was finishing up preschool at the time. Christina and Katherine were still in Elementary school. Lauren was not in preschool yet. As for Mike, he was entering 4th grade and Alex was about to begin preschool. For the father, he was overwhelmed with work just like the mother.
They had just spent about all their money on bills and home repairs, leaving very few dollars for Christmas presents. It's fair to say the family was struggling so much. With the mom pregnant, that would mean the family would soon become a 10 person household. How would they be able to provide for the baby? They would need a miracle.
As luck would have it, the dad Mike wanted to take his shot at the lottery. The California state lottery jackpot had risen to $10 million and he figured, 'Well it's now or never. We don't have a lot of money so let's go for it.' So he went down to the nearest gas station and picked his lucky numbers. [10, 15, 24, 35, 42, 48] He crossed his fingers and thanked the guy at the counter. Hours later the family waited as dad was anxiously waiting for the numbers to come out. Luckily, if they did win the lottery, they weren't far from Lottery HQ in California. It's only a few miles away. As the kids went to bed, Lynne & Mike huddled and prayed. Lynne said, 'If we don't win, it's OK. We have each other and our kids. God gave us a great life.' But then she realized what she had been saying, 'But we barely have any money though. It's so difficult.' Mike smiled, 'I got a good feeling.' Lynne added, 'I hope so dear.'
It was 10:30 PM PST and one of the kids went downstairs. It was Christina. She said, 'Mommy, daddy, I'm scared. What if we become bankrupt?' Lynne said, 'Relax baby, we'll be fine.' Christina said, 'Okay...' but with a frown. Lynne & Mike knew that Christina was being depressed about something. Christina mumbled as she was walking upstairs, 'This could be the worst Christmas ever.' Now Mike was praying so hard for his numbers to come out.
Unfortunately Mike's heart was crushed and Lynne shared his sorrow. The numbers were 11, 16, 23, 34, 41, 49, one number off each one. But nobody won the jackpot. He still had another chance to strike gold. Lynne went with Mike to the gas station the next day and they each bought a ticket hoping they would score big this time. Hours passed, the kids went to sleep again and the parents waited it out once more. Mike hung the Christmas decorations while Lynne watched as the numbers were announced.
No luck either, both Mike & Lynne didn't win the jackpot. But again, nobody won it. They were down to their last $5. And with the baby coming soon, the parents were losing it. They tried one more time and spent the last $5 on lotto tickets. Their car had plenty of gas so they were good for a while there, but they were out of money. It was now or never. Meanwhile, the Cimorelli kids were praying that they would make some money. They were all on school break for the holidays and with one week till Christmas, this was it.
The family got together that night at 11 PM waiting for the numbers to come out. Lynne made popcorn for everyone. Mike Jr. got the drinks for everyone. They watched closely and noticed the numbers came out 7, 13, 23, 35, 41, 45. They had checked their tickets, but Christina announced 'Remember, we have each other no matter what. All we want for Christmas is each other, even if things don't work out.' The parents smiled. As they looked at the tickets, they saw they had 3 correct numbers on 2 of their tickets, 2 on 2 others. They were gonna get some much needed money, but not much. It came down to the last ticket. When they got the tickets, the family agreed not to look at the numbers until after the reveal.
They found out that they had won the jackpot! The numbers on ticket #5 were 7, 13, 23, 35, 41, 45. We call this a Cimorelli Christmas Miracle. The jackpot was $12,000,000 and the family headed for Lottery HQ. Everything went smoothly, the Cimorelli clan picked up their winnings, and then spent it on home furnishings, Christmas presents, groceries, etc. They put some money away for the kids' education and beyond.
