Brandon and Jesus walked towards Lena's car.
Lena was standing at the drivers side door waiting for the boys.
Once she saw them she climbed into the car.
Brandon pulled open the back seat door noticing that Jude, Mariana and Callie were already inside.
"Hey, b." Lena said as she faced into the back seat. "Why don't you sit in the front."
Brandon nodded slightly as Jesus moved away. He was confused by what she meant. Did she mean sit in the front because of his arm, or was it something else, was it because of Callie.
He climbed into the car and sat down on the seat. A little ache of pain shot through his arm but he was fine.
"You ok?" Lena asked as Sh noticed his discomfort.
"Never better." He replied as he tried to force a smile.
"Moms gonna meet us at home." Lena said like she was talking to the rear view mirror.
She looked across to Brandon almost as if she was ashamed or disappointed. He caught her glare then he looked away and out the window.
The car filled with silence as the engine began to sound and the car began to move. It was a numbness that was all built up by everyone. All the fear and shock had just twisted into this sickening silence that felt loud and horrible.
"I know today wasn't...good-" Lena began not knowing what to say, but she was cut off.
"Good?" Mariana interrupted sounding mad and frustrated that 'good' was even referred.
"I watched a girl die." Mariana continued as she immediately broke into tears.
Jude, who was starring straight forward stone cold, began to get tears in his eyes. No one knew the experience he had through all of this. That day broke a lot of people. Being hurt and ruined by it was almost normal.
Callie looked across to Mariana then laced her fingers with hers and held her hand tight.
Mariana looked down as she licked the tears that were running across her lips.
Lena felt like she would collapse. She regretted even saying anything in the first place.
"Today sucked." Lena stated as if she was trying to be more 'teenager' or something. "I promise you everything will be fine."
Brandon looked up into the rear view mirror as Lena spoke. Callie's brown glassy eyes met with his for a second almost as if the words were directed at them.
Callie looked away and back over to Jude.
Brandon's eyes faded from the mirror and back to the road.

The car pulled into the drive way and once it stopped Brandon and Callie could feel their hearts both drop in their chests. It was almost as if they didn't want to get out the car, like if they never left the car they would never have to face their mothers. Which was just absurd.
Lena opened her door first followed by Jesus.
Then Callie then Brandon and in no time at all they were all walking slowly across the grass to the front door.
Lena stuck a key in the door then held held it open as Mariana and Jude walked in.
As Brandon passed her it was almost like she gave him this look. Almost as if she was saying... It's ok. I understand.
She gave the same look to Callie as she followed Brandon in. Once Jesus passed then Lena too walked into the house letting the door shut behind her.
Now it was time.
