Callie looked through the the crowd and saw Lena wrapping her arms around Jude.
Callie swallowed hard then slid off the back of the ambulance.
Brandon looked at her not wanting her to go.
"Where are you going?" He asked softly yet full of concern and anxiousness.
Callie turned to him trying to avoid eye contact with him, drawing her eyes past him to a sticker of his bandage.
"I'll see you at home." She gave a small smile then turned and began to walk away.
Brandon watched her go as she became consumed in the mass of crowd and cars.
He breathed out heavily then looked down at his sling wrapped arm.
It was a relief it wasn't his hand. He had already injured it once if the bullet was fired lower or he moved he was undeniably screwed.
He looked around gazing at the settling chaos. It didn't feel real. He felt like he would just wake up and he would be in his bed, then he would go to school and everything would be fine.
But this was reality. The reality was that some messed up kid shot up the school killing one or more students. That he was shot in the arm after ducking from bullets, that he found a dead girl bleeding out through her chest, he sister shot a gun, he nearly almost died from panic and now he just sat here. Staring at families crying to their children, police interviewing students and teachers, a SWAT team guarding the school, and dozens of news reporters talking about the same thing.
That the calm, beautifully located Anchor Beach High School was prone to an act of terror.
It was rarely a dream.
"Hey" said a voice.
Brandon looked up to see Jesus sitting next down to him.
"Hey." He muttered back.
"How's the arm?"
Brandon looked down at it again. "Uh, it's ok. I don't need to go to the hospital."
"That's good." Jesus replied with a small nod.
"Hey, you're like the dude from the Matrix. Dodging bullets and stuff" Jesus stated as he leaned back and moved his arms slowly as if he was to imitate the iconic movie scene.
Brandon chuckled softly. "Yeah, I guess I am."
"Anyway, um, Mama wants to take us home."
"Like now?" Brandon said as his heart began to beat faster.
Jesus nodded as he swung his legs back and forth under the vehicle. "Yep."
Brandon clench his jaw hard as going "home" didn't seem to be very safe and loving anymore. Now that they know what him and Callie did they weren't just gonna let that slide.
"Uh, yeah, ok sure." He said nervously. He didn't want to be around the crowds and the sirens anymore.
He shuffled off of the ambulance and landed on his feet of the ground.
Jesus followed then began to walk towards the car park as Brandon followed him.
