Mason's P.O.V
Fine.
The last word I heard from the love of my life. The word that tore me apart. The word that held all of my secrets. Was said to me, by Beth.

The one who brought my mother back to me. The one who made me see the world in a different perspective. The one who taught me how to love.

I played my with food at my new table. My mother and Emma sat across from me. I would never turn down chicken and salad but there was a lump in my throat blocking me to eat anything.

"Mason, you have barley touched your food."
" I'm not hungry mum."
" Sweetie, Beth is just a girl."
" She was my girl."
My mothers face fell and I sat back in my chair staring at the food. I can't look at this. I pushed back the chair and left the room.

I walked into my new yet empty bedroom and sat on my mattress on the floor. Maybe Beth realized her mistake and will call me or text me even.

My phone started buzzing and I ran to it. It was just Jace.
"Hey Mason."
" Hey."
" Um, how you holding up?"
" Alright I guess."
" You are not alright."
"No, because I just gave up the love of my life."
" Mason, you have to go talk to her.
Jade said they were singing their new song and she just broke down."
" Don't love you anymore?"
" Yes! She couldn't finish the song and they had to pack up early even. She is heartbroken."
" Well how am I gonna make it up to her."
" I have a plan. Band slam is in four days and I have the perfect plan."
" Spill."

{ Two Days Later }
It's two days till band slam and Jace and I have got everything planned. Of course I'm not going to tell you. You'll just have to wait and see.

I wonder what Beth is doing right now. Is she upset or practicing like crazy. Does she even miss me? Will this even work?
" Mason, I'm going out for coffee with Bonnie, I'll be back soon."
" I was just about to go out!"
" Just look after Emma for a few hours okay?"
" Mum!"
" Hey, I haven't seen my friends in four years."
" Okay, sorry."
" Thanks, stay out of trouble!"

I take out my phone and text Jace.
Hey, my mum just went out. Can't hang till late afternoon.
Almost instantly there was a reply.
That's cool, I'll just go see Jade. See you later.
I walk out to the lounge area and see Emma playing with some toys. She looks up at me and gives me a warm smile. I half smile back.

I hear a knock at the door. I sprint to it and open it. It's, Beth!
" Hey Beth, I've missed you."
" Here."
She hands me her, her necklace I gave her on our one month anniversary.
" Beth, I."
" Bye, Mason," she says, in her perfect American accent.
I watch her turn away. Her beautiful long brown hair sways slightly in the wind. She hops in her car, Josh in the passenger seat and they drive off.
I look down at my hand with the necklace. It was a tiny heart with a diamond encrusted in the middle.

I small tear drops in my hand. Was I crying? I don't cry. I never cry.

I slide down the wall and bring my knees to my chest. I rest my head on my knees and let myself cry.
I miss her.
