CHAPTER 4 : Penny For A Thought?

I'm about to pass out.

And that's exactly what I did.

"I cant believe this happened" I deep voice spoke

"What do you mean 'you cant believe it'? You caused it" another voice that I recognized oh so well spoke out.

"Keep your voice down, your gonna wake her up" the first voice spoke up.

My eyes flutter open with recognition clearly expressed in them

"Hey Marls"

"Hey Marley"

Nathan and Jake said simultaneously.

Nathan walks towards me with open arms. With each step he takes, I squirm backwards until I hit the cold wall.

Then it dawns on me...

"Where am I?" I manage to voice out.

I look around me for signs of where I was.

"The nurse's office" they said simultaneously..........AGAIN!!!

"Okay guys this is getting weird. Stop talking at the same time."

"I'll take you home" Nathan speaks up first...thankfully.

Jake opens his mouth to protest but I cut him off by nodding... he understands.

So maybe we didn't go to my house first.

Maybe we took a pit-stop at the community mall.

What?!? I  was hungry. a girl's gotta eat.

"So...... tell me what I missed" Nathan asks nonchalantly, his hand crossed behind his chair.

"Well......" I drag "You kinda missed out on my 13th to 15th birthdays" I say, giving him a deadpanned  stare.

He scratches the back of his neck as if ashamed or nervous.

 Oh I wonder why. Note the sarcasm.

He chuckles nervously and begins to speak

"How many times do I have to apologise for that. I really regret losing touch with you and...."

He trails of or I stop listening to the lies I've heard for the past years.

You don't just cut people off whenever you want, he should at least have thought about how I would feel about it. Although I'm not as affected as before.

I immediately stand up from my seat, the chair screeching under me. I walk off to where he parked his car in the parking lot and sit in the driver's seat.

I took his keys when he dropped them on the table, I don't think he noticed though.

I start the engine and just sit and watch as he comes after me, confusion written all over his face.

I switch off the engine then twirl his keys at the tip of my finger.

It takes a while for him to process it. Gosh, so slow.

I step out of the car and toss him the keys as I head for the passengers seat.

Right now I'm in the car with Nathan and it is the most dreadful ride ever. The silence in here is killing me.

Why did I decide to ride home with Nathan? you may ask. Well I want answers.

Answers on why he left so suddenly.

Answers to why now.

Why talk to me now...?

"Penny for a thought?" Nathan says out of nowhere, taking me by surprise.

I sigh "I'm just thinking about what happened between us, why now, after all this time"

When I'm done, he groans/sighs and pulls over.

Things will be said and can't be taken back now...

As promised I present to what I like to call an update.

So deeply sorry for the excruciatingly long wait.

I have problems with updating frequently and with this storyline. I honestly dot know where it's heading.

General book reads : let's get it to 580 - 590  and if possible 600
