So…
I haven't told you this, but I'm going to Japan in a few years. I've been studying the language and it just. Isn't. Working!
However, I found a site (JapanesePod101) and it's awesome! But I'm greatly disadvantaged because…
Japanese learn to write from age six to teenagehood (That's not a word? It is now.)
And I'm just now learning. At thirteen. At twelve, they can already write and read hiragana and katakana. In fact, they know this in the first year of elementary school. They also know 1006 kanji, learned throughout elementary.
Do you understand now? I. know. Nothing. About how to write any of these. And I have a very, insanely loose grasp on the language.
So… I will now be teaching myself Japanese for an hour everyday. I'll tell you how it goes.
(Also, check out my new story on AO3 [archiveofourown]! It's called 'Hate Not Sins But Self', and it's really kind of dark so read the tags)
