What can we call you (name)?
My name is fairly obvious. It's John Chan. I guess you can call me John. ^_^
Where are you from?
I'm here in Toronto, Canada. I've been here most of my life. I used to fly back to Hong Kong where I was born fairly often, but I haven't these last couple of years.
What is your favorite hobby?
Besides writing? I used to spend a little time flying RC helicopters and I also play a little cello. Lately, what with the story I've been working on, I haven't had much time for those other things, I'm afraid. :-(
Coffee or tea?
I enjoy my tea every now and again, but it's definitely coffee. Yes! >.<
What book(s) are you reading now?
I was reminded of a few 'classics' I actually have not read, so recently, I finally got around to finishing '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' and I am right now going through 'The Count of Monte Cristo'.
Who are your favorite Wattpad authors?
The Orangutan, Ben Carey.
When and why did you start writing?
I've always enjoyed writing. I started feeling fairly serious about it back in 2000. I tried to sell a novel or two back then but I just was not successful. I hit a huge hiatus and stopped for a time. In 2011, I discovered Wattpad and now, here I am! :-)
Is there a specific genre that you like to read/write?
I like to read S.F. and Fantasy. I tend to write somewhere in between. My category definitely does not fit nicely into 'classic' S.F. or Fantasy. It's more...speculative. Or maybe just weird. As a genre, I mean. :P
What or who inspires you in your work?
If I could write 'like' anybody, it would be Hemingway. But I don't. So sad. T.T
Can you tell us a bit about your current story and why people would want to read it?
Hm...this is a tricky one. I'm not quite ready to spill the beans yet, so I'm afraid my readers will have to wait a bit.
Is there a message for your readers in your work?
If I have, the messages are fairly subtle. I would hate to ruin it by laying them all out in the open right here. Hahaha! :-)
Do you have any advice for other writers?
I don't feel I'm good enough to hand out much advice. But if I am going to be impressed by what I read, it will be the fantastic ideas that go to make up the story in the first place and not so much the adornment that has been layered on top of it. I try to write that way myself.
Is there anything else you would like add?
Thank you.
A/N: I have reviewed "Remember" by john_chan.
