Interview: 2ndborn
Author of "Fatty McFat Fat's Big Adventure"
What can we call you (name)?
You can call me Kimya
Where are you from?
I am a native Cali girl. :)
What is your favorite hobby?
Reading, I would rather read a book than write one. I wish I could read a book into existence! It would make my life way easier! I also love watching anime & movies.
Coffee or tea?
The smell of coffee makes me go crazy! It's like a drug for me, it smells so good! But I have to force myself to drink it most times. Tea tastes so much better. Especially lemon zinger tea on a cold day. :)
What book(s) are you reading now?
I actually just finished reading a book called "District 5" by Kristen Simmons yesterday. It wasn't the best book, but I didn't hate it so I think I'll order the sequel sometime soon.
Who are your favorite Wattpad authors?
That depends. My favorites are the ones who are my friends but if you take away my rose colored glasses, I have no favorite. I haven't found an author who completely blew me away yet. No one has written with amazing writing skill AND an exciting plot AND interesting characters. There's always something I find missing. However, right now my favorite author is taliciaem because I think this wattpader comes pretty close to what a real novel should be like. There are things in his/her work I really love, but there's one element that stops it from being truly amazing. With enough practice, I think taliciaem is gonna be a force to be reckoned with. :)
When and why did you start writing?
I started writing in the 5th grade? I don't recall when exactly, but ever since I started reading (which was kindergarten) I always loved books. So, one day I decided to make poems and stories just like the ones I loved so much. I have notebooks filled with ideas, snippets of dialogue, and poems. At the end I always gave up because I didn't want to write I just wanted to read.
Is there a specific genre that you like to read/write?
I love fantasy! Sorcerers, dragons, princesses, fairies...and I love stories based on mythology. My dream is to write a good fantasy story but even though I have tried, my ideas were always too big for my skill. I can spend hours rewriting a sentence! I decided that until I learn how to properly write (which means once I go to college) I will jump into fantasy again. Now I mainly write teen fiction, humor, romance, and thrillers.
What or who inspires you in your work?
The world inspires me. God inspires me. Other stories plant seeds in my head that form into unique flowers that wait for me to pick them. Yeah...is that as weird as it sounds?
Can you tell us a bit about your current story and why people would want to read it?
I won't talk about my "current" story but about the one I worked my hardest on. My story "FATTY MCFAT FAT'S BIG ADVENTURE" is about a big dream who wishes for small things. It's about a journey, a journey full of humor and craziness. I guess this story is for those who are looking for something that's different from the other teen fiction they've read on wattpad. If you hadn't smiled in awhile come check it out. This story is probably not for everyone, but I really didn't write it for everyone. This story is for me. :)
Is there a message for your readers in your work?
Um, hey readers! Thanks for supporting me all this way. I really appreciate it. Come talk to me sometimes, friends make living just that much easier. :)
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Keep on writing no matter what! So you took a break, now get off your butt and write some more! Don't expect to be perfect the first time, or even the thousandth time. Trust me, you'll know when your writing's good. Also, ask for many critiques and opinions and if they are all good, you have a problem!
Is there anything else you would like add?
My whole life I always loved to discover new worlds and new people. To know that I had some ability to creating the things I love so much fills me with so much joy. Even though it's a huge struggle to create most nights, I hope that if there was anyone who feels like giving up out there please don't! Maybe one day, you'll be a published author one day and I will grab your book off a shelf (or an ebook store) and fall in love! So for the love of stories, write on! <3
