Finally! The chapter I've been wanting to write for soooo long! No long rumbling of mine, let's read!
================================================
Karasuma's POV
"Don't look away! Predict your target's moves! If you all do that, you'll block off every last one of his escape routes!" I shout out to the students practicing knifework. We're going on our fourth month of training, and more and more students are showing promise.
Isogai Yuma and Maehara Hiroto. They've got great reflexes, and when they work as a pair, their knives hit the mark more often now.
Akabane Karma. He seems like the evasive, meandering type at first glance, but there's great mischief in those eyes. Paired off with Murasakino Aira, the 14-year-old assassin trained since 4, they move as if they hear each other's thoughts and always hit the mark.
And the other girls: Okano Hinata's unpredictable movements born of her gymnastic background, and Kataoka Megu, with a reach and momentum to rival the boys'.
These traits make them stand out as attackers. "And Koro-sensei, the very model of an ideal teacher. To kill such a man of character would be unthinkable!"
"Don't be making up thoughts for me. Get lost, target!" I said angrily, and he takes away the self-drawn picture of his, laughing.
Although no other students have distinguished themselves, overall their talent has come quite a long way.
I freezes in terror when I feel a giant snake circling around me, with a white leopard pouncing at me. Turning around, I use as much force as I can to throw it off me, and put the other creature down by the neck. But they turn out to be Nagisa and Aira.
"Ow..."
"My head..."
They both said simultaneously, and I quickly help them both up, saying apologetically, "Sorry! Put a little too much oomph into my block there." Nagisa smiles quickly, "Oh, I-I'm fine." Aira just shrugs, "It is not so bad. I broke my nose once from trying this on my father."
Shiota Nagisa...Murasakino Aira...the strange presences I just felt—were that my imagination?
**********
Aira's POV
The bell rings, signalling us the lesson is over. "Man, I just can't hit him!" Kimura sighs as we all look as Karasuma-sensei walks away with his jacket in his hands. "Karasuma-sensei has, like zero chinks." Okajima said.
"Huh? But I can. It's easy." I wondered out loud, smirking.
"That's because you are a pro!"
Just then, Kurahashi walks over to Karasuma-sensei, asking cheerfully, "Sensei! Come out for snacks with us after class!" He holds up a hand, declining politely, "I appreciate the invite, but I still have work to do."
"No chinks in his private life, either." Mimura said, and Okana explains, "It's more like there's a wall between him and us, like he's keeping his distance."
"He takes good care of us and all, but is that only because he has to?" Kurahashi asks, and I sighs, "I am sure that he is closer to us than he thinks. I will be in the trees if you need me."
Turning around, I am starting to walk away when I hear a seemingly cheerful voice said, "Yo, Karasuma!"
"Takaoka!" He replies in surpirse, and I look around to see a guy with a beer tummy holding a huge amount of bags, smiling. Oh, so another guy from the government. Wonder what kind of trouble he will lead us to?
