24.Name and Age Please

I let Jack out as Dr. Jason walked through the door. Dr. Jason injected Jack with a shot and helped him into a robe. “How do you feel?” Dr. Jason asked as he checked Jack carefully.

“Good,” Jack replied as he went to push himself to standing.

“No!” I yelled, worried he would fall.

“What?” Jack asked as he turned to look at me, but didn't move otherwise.

“James, let him try. He might succeed,” Dr. Jason said as he looked at me; then he commanded, “Try to stand.” Jack stood and tried to take a step, he fell and Dr. Jason caught him.

“Now, I understand,” Jack laughed as Dr. Jason helped him back onto the bed.

Dr. Jason was replaced by John, who brought food, paper, and food. “Eat,” John ordered as he gave Jack some fruit.

“Thank you, that was delicious,” Jack said as he wiped his mouth with the back of his hands.

“Can I ask you some questions?” John asked politely as we watch Jack.

“Sure,” Jack replied as he licked between his fingers.

“What was your full name? Plus, what were your parent's names?” John asked as he grabbed Jack's hands and pulled them away from his mouth.

“Jack Thomas. My parents were Amanda and Clay Thomas,” he answered as he went to lick his hands again, but John held his hands to his lap.

“How long have you been a black bear? How old are you?” John inquired, still holding Jack's hands.

“I have been a black bear for six years and I was nine when I was captured; so I'm fifteen?” he replied with a question.

“Yes, that would be fifteen. One last question; then we can get you walking. Where did you used to live?” John asked as he released Jack's hands.

“Um, I think it was 51237 Grove Road,” Jack answered as his hands stayed on his lap.

“Here, let me help you into these,” John said as I left.

“I hurried to the next room, where Dr. Jason was looking over a beautiful woman. “Hello,” I greeted as I sat in the doorway. The woman had brown hair to her butt and her skin was very tan.

“Oh James, come in. I was just about to get Anna,” Dr. Jason said as he left me alone with the lady.

Anna came in and sat down across from the lady. “Hello my dear. You should eat this.” Anna gave the woman some soup and she began to lap it. “No my dear. Use this,” Anna laughed as she handed her a spoon.

“Hello honey,” I purred as I rubbed against Anna's legs.

“Hello James,” Anna replied as she stroked my mane.

“He is your husband?” the woman asked confused as she stared at me.

“Yes, he is. I was once a lion too, but I was lucky enough to be turned back,” Anna answered as she looked sadly at me.

“Oh! Does that mean I get to stay like this too?” she asked super excited.

“Not exactly. Our doctor is working on it. Right now, it only last for a week,” Anna replied as she glanced up.

“Okay,” the woman said depressed, but she quickly cheered up. “Can I see my family?”

“We will try to get it set up; but first, I need to ask you some questions,” Anna explained as I purred.

“Ask away!” the woman replied happily.

“What is your full name and your parent's names?” Anna asked as she grabbed her paper and pens.

“Sarah Chipper, daughter of Virginia and Tom Chipper,” Sarah replied quite positive.

“Where did you live?” Anna inquired as she jotted down notes.

“68567 Janke Road,” Sarah answered as she bounced on the bed.

“Last question and it is okay if you don't know; but how old are you?” Anna asked as she had to scribble to keep up with Sarah's answers.

“I was eight years old when I was captured in 2000; but I don't know what year it is now,” Sarah responded as she glanced down at her wiggling toes.

“It is the year 2016; so you are twenty-four now and you have been captured for sixteen years,” Anna said as she gave me a look and I bolted out of the room.

I waited outside the door as Anna helped Sarah dress; then John came to take her to walk, while Anna and I hurried into the next room. I guess it was Selena because that had been the only other female I had talked to earlier. Anna gave Selena some food and Selena graciously said, “Thank you.”

“Can I ask you some questions?” Anna asked as Selena ate the last bite of sandwich.

“I guess so,” Selena answered confused as she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand like Jack had.

“First off, use this to wipe your face,” Anna commanded as she handed Selena a napkin. “Second, please tell me your full name and the names of your parents.”

“Selena Brown. Logan and Read Brown,” Selena answered as she wiped her mouth with the napkin.

“Good. Now where did you live?” Anna asked as she wrote down the info.

“77714 Trent Road. Why is this important?” Selena questioned still confused.

“We are going to try to find your parents. How old are you?” Anna replied easily, not taking her eyes off the paper.

“I'm twenty-three and I have been a brown bear for fourteen years,” Selena answered.

“Great. Now let's get you into better work-out clothes and walking,” Anna cheered as she stood; then she looked at me. “Um James?”

“Yes dear,” I purred before I ran down the hall and to my individual cage to sleep.

Everyday for a month during that summer, animal-kids were changed for a week. They had school and hanged with family; but every time I was giving a chance, I refused. I walked around the circus as a lion, but I was super happy.
