Kai's P.O.V

Max began getting very impatient and jumpy as we sat in Ryan's hot truck.

Ryan, Cody, Kimmy and Jose were taking their precious time inside the store,  and from the looks of the end of the dirt road that led here, trouble is on it's way.

"Hey, Bella could you watch Max? I'm gonna go get the others." I asked.

Her elbow propped against the window of the car and her hand stayed under her chin for support.

"Bella?" I exclaimed.

"What do want, damn it?" she jarred.

"Watch Max." I didn't give her time to refuse. I quickly hopped out the truck and ran in the store.

"Kai what are you doi--!" Reese yelled as I ran past her.

No time to talk..
Got lives to save.

"GUYS WE GOTTA  GO!" I yelled.

They still grabbed things off the shelves and threw them into the suitcases as I spoke.

"Guys I mean it! There's trouble down the road!" I warned.

"Alright let's go guys, ditch the truck, load the van." Ryan  commanded.

Kimmy lined up at the door, with a hammer in her hand and looked back one last time.

"Everyone got a weapon?" she asked.

"Yeah," Ryan said, joining us up front with 2 nail guns in his hand.

Holy crap, that's a great weapon of choice.

"Let's roll." Jose joined us with a tomahawk and a really big screwdriver in his hand.

"Oh yeah, go ahead guys." Cody said.

He struggled to zip up the tool bag that they stocked while the others just ran out, leaving him behind.

I ran over to him and gently pushed him out the way, "here, let me help you." I smiled

I pushed everything down and tried to zip it up but it wouldn't budge.
I pulled the zipper so hard, to where I almost broke it, when I realized there was cloth in the way of the zipper.

I moved the cloth out the way and reached for the zipper, but I wasn't really paying attention because I accidentally placed my hand on top of his.

Being the awkward person that I am, I held my hand there for another 5 seconds before snatching it away in embarrassment.
"I'm, uh, sorry." I said, trying my hardest not to smile.

I looked up at him as  he grinned and shyly pulled his hair behind his ears.

"That's okay." He chuckled.

There was an awkward moment of silence where I just stared at him blush and move all the pieces of loose hair from his face.

He then pulled the bag over his shoulder and walked toward door, "you coming?" he asked.

I smiled and shook my head from my thoughts and joined him with the suitcase in my hand.

I just held Cody Dallas' hand.... Well, not really but technically.. Yeah.. No..

Ryan's dad owned a big van, that could fit all of us ---It was perfect to get away in.

In the front of the van, there was 2 seats. One for the driver, one for the passenger.

behind that row, there were 3  seats in the middle,  bushed together.

now the very back row was  3 seats as well, but 2 were connected and the other one was kinda distant.
