Note: hey guys! I just wanted to let you know that I'm making a change in the story. I'm no longer going to be writing in third person to make it easier to phrase things. Starting her the story will be from Kayla's point of view, in present tense. (Sorry I'm bad at wording things... Which is probably why I suck at school presentations, but anyway you'll see :P)
Peter steps in front of me and holds out his hand, "Milady..." I place my hand in his and he leads me to the table. He pulls out the chair and gestures for me to sit, I do and he walks over to his own seat.
"Ok I'm going to be completely honest, Melissa planned most of this out, so I'm just as shocked as you are," we laugh and I look out to the city.
"This place really is beautiful at night, I've really never seen seen it from a distance..." Eventually I realize I'm mumbling and I look over to Peter to see him grinning at me like an idiot.
"You know, it's kind if cute when you zone out like that."
I look down at my lap and I feel my face heat up.
The waiter comes and we order our drinks as he hands us the menu.
"So Kayla," I put down my menu, " I don't really know much about you, and I don't think you know anything about me, so..."
"So?"
"I want to get to know you better."
"Ok... What exactly do you want to know?"
"I don't know, things like..." He stops and thinks, "about your family, about your intrests, likes, dislikes, you know, that sort of thing."I tell him about how my dad left me and my mom when I was four, and about Garrett. I tell him about my love of drawing, and my interest in books.
"So what about you?" I ask, "What's your story?"
"Well my dad left me and my mom when I was three, the when I was five, my mom died of cancer. I've been living with my aunt ever since," He looks down at his lap,"anyway, I think we've had enough of the depressing stories, let's order, shall we?"
It's amazing, really. I mean he lost both of his parents when he was little, and yet he still managed to move on with his life. It's almost sad, compared to him, I'm pitiful, I shut everyone out because some guy dumped me.
He really is amazing.
