"No way."
He didn't answer.
Our faces were only inches away. His right hand rested on my chest as he looked up to me.
I shook my head. "No."
"Why?" His face confused. "Don't you believe me?"
"Sandy!" My voice raised as I took two steps backward, making his hand fall down. I couldn't accept this confession, especially after what I did to him. "I... I hurt you, okay?" I tried to sound convincing. "It's just an infatuation. You... You just felt that you like me after that. It's like a transference effect... or something like that."
It should be.
"I told you it's okay." He said in a soft voice. "I'll take responsibility, right? It's just..."
Shit. Don't continue.
"The way I acted that time doesn't mean that I'm not..." His voice trailed off. It took a while until he spoke again. "It doesn't mean that I'm not a virgin anymore."
I sighed and covered my face with my hand. "I'm sorry."
"I acted that way because I like you."
I sighed again, not removing my hand.
"Juliene and Kris already know about this."
I immediately looked at him. Him bringing the two's names means this is not a lie.
"I..." He put his right hand on his left arm and slightly lowered his head. "I liked you since I met you."
That was four years ago.
"Tsk!" He lowered his head more. "You're a tall kid but you often get bullied."
Yeah right. Brings back memories.
"The first time I saw you, Ryan was bullying you. I gathered a lot of courage just to save you, you know. And when I saw your crying face," He put his hand on his chest, "it struck me."
I know that damn well. That time, when he came to save me and saw my face, he was shocked, like he was surprised to see my face. He just froze there while he looked at me crying. However, I never thought that's what he felt.
"You're just so cute that I couldn't bring myself to leave you behind." He smiled. "I told myself you'd be my wife when we grow up." He chuckled. "But to think that I am the type to be pushed down, I'm kinda disappointed, you know."
Yeah.
"But it doesn't matter if it's you." He paused. "Last time, I was so happy I thought my heart would burst anytime. Even though you're rough, I gotta say I enjoyed it." He smiled. The smile that would make girls fall in love in a blink of an eye. "You're my first."
My body moved on its own. Before I know it, I was already hugging him.
"I'm sorry!" I tightened my hug. "I'm really sorry!"
He patted my back. "I told you it's okay." He hugged me back, tight.
I brushed my fingers in his soft, red hair. His hair smelled so good.
We stayed like that, not saying anything, just savouring the heat our bodies were giving off. The wind blew again. I saw leaves flying in the air. I stared to the sky and made a silent prayer.
Please don't ring the bell yet.
I hope this moment will last forever. Having Sandy in my arms made my insides--and my heart--happy. His warmth felt good in my body. I tightened my hug.
