Ending of Chapter 3:
“Yes we do. In fact, we have a few questions that only you can answer, Kasia Hayes.” Derek stretches out her full name.
Stiles’ POV
We all stood there in silence as Derek and Isaac strides toward her. Scott’s eyes were glowing too but he stayed back with us. “Wait.” A strong tone fills the room. Ethan and Aidan stood in the doorway with someone behind them. “Is it her?” Ethan turns and asks the tall figure behind them. “Kasia?” Danny’s voice echoes quietly thought out the room. Her eyes widened as Danny walks through the twins. “Danny.” She gasps silently. She runs straight toward him without stopping and pulls him into a strong embrace. “Oh my god Danny, I thought I would never see you again.” Kasia whispers with a smile that could melt the Antarctic with happiness. A single tear drop falls from Danny’s eye as he hugs her back tightly. The hug lasted a good minute before they separated.
“So uh, mind to tell us how you guys…know each other?” Isaac cuts through their moment. Danny wipes his tear away with the back of his hand and turned toward us. “Kasia’s my sister.” Suddenly the crowd froze over in shock. Derek’s eyes widen in astonishment and Scott inhales deeply. Mr. Argent’s jaw dropped and Allison and Lydia stood there in bewilderment. “What happened?” Allison asks them softly. Danny looks over at Kasia with a hint of sadness in his eyes. “I’ll tell them.” Danny whispers to Kasia. She nods with a tear streaming down her cheek.
Danny’s POV:
*Flashback to 11 years ago*
Kasia ran through the woods freely as I chased after her. Our parents never liked us playing in the woods but we loved the nature. I stop for a chance to take a breath. I leaned against a tree trunk as I tell Kasia to slow down. She was 2 years younger than me but she was still a lot faster than I was and also had more energy. I hear her laughter in the distance as she dances through the greenery with a flower crown on her head. It was another fall day and the leaves covered the forest floor. I snap back to reality as a high-pitched scream fills the air. Until I realized that it was Kasia that was screaming. A man in a dark long coat held Kasia in his arms with a knife in hand. “If you come any closer I’ll kill you. Unless you want to go with her but I’d much rather not have to kill two children.” The man chuckles in a way that made my hair rise. “I’ll go.” I firmly say to him. When I woke up we were in an old warehouse. Tight ropes tied us down to two chairs in which we sat. “What do you want?” I snap at the three men that were seated across from us. “Well, you see, your sister here has a secret that she has kept for many years now. And we don’t exactly like her little ‘secret’. And the only other reason we are keeping you here is because your parents have a ton of money that we could really use.” The man grins with a glint in his eyes I would always recognize and remember. “You won’t get away with this!” I yelled at the guys that now laughed at our helpless situation. I turned to Kasia after they walked away. “What were they talking about? What secret?” I softly asked as I struggled to get out of the ropes. Kasia turned away silently. I tried again but the ropes didn’t budge. “Kasia you can trust me oka-” I tried to tell her but she cut me off. “I’m sorry Danny, I just can’t tell you.” Her words somewhat hurt me but I knew that there has to be a reason.
6 hours later, the guys came back into the room. “Since your parents won’t give me the money, I’m gonna have to kill one of you.” He smirked evilly. Kasia turned over to me with an apologetic smile and a tear rushing down her red cheeks. “I’m sorry Danny.” Her shaking hand goes up voluntarily with her fear evident in her eyes. “Ah, I see that you have a very brave little sister.” The man says with an impressed tone. I looked over at Kasia now that she was being untied. “Kasia no, you can’t do this to me! You can’t, Kasia just please, no!” I wail but Kasia smiles sympathetically. “I have to do this Danny. This is for you. Thanks for being a good brother to me for 6 years, I love you.” As Kasia bravely stood up she cut my rope with her hand almost magically. Her eyes glowed suddenly a bright green shade. At the time I hadn’t thought much of Kasia’s weird glow in her eyes and her sudden strength. They took her away and I cried her name until I finally lost my voice. I had always thought it was my fault but all the people around me thought otherwise. My parents took me to therapy after that but none of it helped. No matter how much everyone told me that Kasia had done it to save me I just couldn’t accept the fact that I had let my sister die. I knew that a lot of people blamed me for her death and some may wish that I was the one who was killed instead.
*Flashback over*
I could see that Allison, Lydia, and Kasia were crying. Derek’s usual hard expression had softened with sympathy. “Danny.” Kasia’s voice came from my right. I looked over at her with raised eyebrows. Her cheeks were bright red and her eyes glittered with tears. A hand covered her mouth while tears still streamed down her face and onto the floor. Her hands shook and she walked over to me and pulled me close. I cried into her shoulder and she returned the same. She was my sister and I had never been this glad to see her. And that was also the night I was told about everything. Everything from the bite to the wolfsbane and all the werewolves. And for the first time, all the mysterious incidents in Beacon Hills actually made sense to me.
