we made it home without any socs buggin' us,

I was sure scared. Maybe they'd call another rumble and we'd win and they'd leave us alone.

That's what I'd hope for.

"Johnny?" I asked, while he played with my hair.

"do I annoy you?"

"ah nah Sharlette, you're my girl and I love ya more than anything," he told me, looking me straight in the eyes.

"I love you too, Johnny Cade. I love you too," I told him.

"would you ever consider, nevermind," he stopped mid-sentence.

"no, go on,"I told him.

"if the socs hurt us.. would ya consider EVER breaking up with me?"

"No. I could care less about the socs, the only thing that matters is me and you being together an the gang stayin' together," I said.

"I just don't ever want ya hurt. If I had to, I'd kill em," he said.

"I know Johnny.." I looked at him.

he held my cheek, sweetly.

and then kissed me.

we pulled away, the kiss was sweet.

"Hey Johnny?" I asked again.

"hmm?"

"remember when ya said if you had to run away, you know where you'd go?"

"yeah," he said.

"where would Ya go?"

"that church in Windrexville." He was sure about it.

"oh, I see," I answered him.

he cuddled me close.

And before I knew I was asleep.

Shar fell asleep and I was awake but it was peaceful, for once it was peaceful, there weren't any socs, no weapons, no fighting.

"I love him." shar mumbled.

"I won't break up with Johnny!" She was talking in her sleep.

"I w-wanna be with him!! stop it!"

it was probably a dream where the socs were bothering her.

"no. don't hurt Johnny!!" She yelled.

she shot up and looked at me.

"ya okay?" I asked.

"yeah, I guess.. Bob was gonna hurt you and I took a bullet for ya Johnnycake," she said.

"I'd Do the same for you,Sharlette," I said.

I wanted to be with Johnny forever, I wanted him to be my first, and my last.. I'd been turning 15 tomorrow.. I've been thinking for some time about this.
