" Hey Kid," he Said

" Hi. I get to leave today!" I said enthusiastically.

"yes you do, Dally's out in the car waiting, here's your clothes, and your jacket, you must've been freaking when you didn't have that!" He told me.

"yay, my jacket, I'll go change," I said getting up with no problem."

"the socs haven't been around, just one soc girl, her names sam. she's been hanging on Johnny."

"she's lucky I can't fight," I laughed.

we got home and everyone hugged me,

there was Sam sitting on the couch giving me a glare when Johnny gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"Hi," I waved politely, trying to keep my anger intact.

she was silent.

"Sam, Sharlette, Sharlette, Sam," Pony said.

"she's a soc," I said.

"you're a greaser," she said, he voice high-pitched.

she stood up and held Johnny's waist.

he pushed her off,

"Sharlette is my girl," he said.

"Oh," she rolled her eyes and gave me a look.

I gave her a death glare.

she left.

"oh a soc bitch," I said.

"She ain't usually a bitch, she just kept hangin on me though," Johnny told me.

I rolled my eyes,

"she's lucky I can't fight, I told Soda before," I said to him.

"You ain't getting in anymore fights alright?" Two-Bit said.

"Oh I took down 2 guy socs, I can take that twig," I said.

"How about that date I said I'd Take ya on?" Johnny asked breaking the violent tension.

"ain't Nothing stopping it,"

I laughed.

"We'll be back guys,"

"alright, don't have too much fun!" Darry yelled.

Johnny would never.

we caught a bus and got off by the Fountain.

he bought some food for us, and I thanked him.

we sat down and ate.

"alright, Shar ya know I'm not that romantic?"

"you can be Johnny," I said

"well today is one of them days,"

"Oh really now?"

"Yeah, yeah it is."

"Well Johnny Cade," I started "impress me."

he smiled, after we left. he took me to the park, on a hill,

"you and Pony like sunsets, I was asking him what I should do, and he told me sunset," he said.

he had brought a small bag and I was wonderin' why until now.

he got a blanket and a radio, we sat on the hill and he sat there, I put my head in his lap and we watched the sunset with the radio on.

"Sharlette?"

"yeah?"

he lifted my head up and kissed me.

I kissed back,

"I love you Johnnycake," I said.

"I love you too, Sharlette,"

after the sun did set it got cold and I was lucky to have my jacket, we walked to the bus stop.

we sat in the lot once back. just talking,

Johnny made me feel safe.

we walked back inside, at by the time we did it was about 11 pm

"did y'all have fun?" Two-Bit asked, laying on the couch.

"we did," I smiled.

"what's so happy happy?"

"oh nothin' really."

we sat and talked with Two-Bit a while,

"a Greaser guy, a Greaser girl, a perfect love story ain't it?" He said.

"I guess so," Johnny said, as he yawned.

we said goodnight to Two-Bit and walked upstairs to my room.

I was too tired to change and Johnny was half asleep,

we got in bed and fell asleep soon after.
