RJ stared out his window, watching the slim girl as he sat hunched on his desk busily writing.
He watched as Maine sighed before closing his notebook and dropping the pen down to the side. Watched as he got up from his seat and sauntered away from the desk.
They made eye contact for a brief second, RJ flashed a smile as he waved his hand towards Maine.
Maine returned RJ's gestures with a scoff before pulling the blinds down from the window.
RJ sighed as he rolled over to his bed, staring at the ceiling with a morose expression. It's been a week and a half since they had a proper conversation, usually it was one sided- RJ would greet her every morning before class began (he thought it safe since Julieanne and company were usually late coming to school) and typically, Maine would ignore him.
Groaning, he picked up his Biology textbook, opened it and started skimming through the text. It was abstract to him, like it was written in some other language he didn't know
"Arrrghhh!" he cried as he dropped the book down on the floor. It was useless, studying by his self, an idiot can't teach an idiot-that was a cold hard fact.
RJ would've asked Jerald for help, but they were in the same boat as well- except his side had a huge hole through it. 'Great, just great!' he thought as he breathed out an
exasperated sigh.
The Biology test was tomorrow, and he was two weeks behind on the material. "RJ ang tanga mo talaga!" he said out loud to himself, pounding his palm on his forehead multiple times.
"Hoy RJ! Now is not the time to sulk!" Jerald cried with determination in his eyes as he busted through the door.
RJ rose his eyebrow as his cousin dragged him down the stairs to the dinner table. "Jerald ano nanaman ba ito?" RJ asked as he glanced at the table.
Before him were piles upon piles of notes, books relating to biology laid scattered across the table. He picked up a piece of paper
nearest to him and skimmed through it. It was one of Ms.Ruby's lectures, the words were easy to read and the important points highlighted.
'It's a miracle!' he thought, jaw gaped wide open. "Wh-where did you get all this?" he stuttered as he looked over the table with awe.
"From Maine, just now" Jerald said flat out
"WHAT?!? AND SHE LET YOU?!?!" he retorted, whipping his head to face his cousin. Jerald smirked as he sat down on one of the table chairs "Unlike you cuz, Mabait sakin si Maine. I've always been a good neighbor, okay?" He replied nonchalantly.
RJ didn't know if he should be envious, or grateful "But wouldn't she know that you'd share her notes with me?" Jerald let out a guilty chuckle "....Yeah, about that...." "About what?" "...Well, technically speaking... your not allowed to look at these" Jerald chimed.
"Ano?"
"She said that she'd only lend them to me if I promised that I wouldn't share it with you" Jerald cried sheepishly
"Now sshh!! Secret lang natin ito okay? If she finds out about this we're both screwed" RJ smiled as he sat down across from Jerald.
"You're a great cousin, you know that?"
"You think this is for free? You're buying me lunch all week" Jerald replied with a playful smirk.
"Now let's kill that test tomorrow!" he cried with resolve.

RJ looked blankly at the piece of paper before him for what seemed like ages.
