"You'll get over it..." It's the clichés that cause the trouble. To lose someone you love is to alter your life forever. You don't get over it because 'it" is the person you loved. The pain stops, there are new people, but the gap never loses. How c...
It had been two weeks since he moved in with his Uncle and cousin. Two weeks for him to adapt to the new environment, two weeks of pure boredom and two weeks of breathing in the salt water air.
'God this place sucks' he contemplated as he rolled his way out of bed.
It was 7:30 in the morning and he knew he should be preparing for the first day of school. Pushing himself up from the floor he looked up to the window. It wasn't a view of the beach, the streets, nor the backyard of the house.
RJ was gazing across another window to another room, his neighbor's room. Their windows were both facing each other, completely parallel and the raven haired boy didn't like it. Especially since the room belonged to his neighbor's yougest daughter, a girl with an angelic smile. For some reason, RJ felt apprehensive whenever they made eye contact.
[flashback]
"Well RJ, here we are...." his Uncle said jovially.
RJ got out of the van and stared at the house. It was a white and blue corner house, moderately sized that gave off a nostalgic feeling. There was no garage, just the front porch and the door. A white fence divided the land between it and the neighboring house to the right.
RJ scanned the area before breathing in the fresh morning air
"Oh god, anong amoy yun?!?" he teared as he pinched his nose with his fingers. Jerald chuckled as he patted RJ on the back "It's salt water air, their's a beach just a block away from our house... Don't worry, you'll get used to it" The raven haired boy nodded as he slowly inhaled the air again.
"It's not much, but it's homey" Uncle Jo stated as he pulled RJ's luggage towards the front doors. He rushed towards the case and grabbed the handle "Here Tito, let me help you with that" he offered.
He gave out a dorky laugh "No it's okay, I'm fine" he insisted. RJ released his grip on the handle "Uh okay.... are you su-"
"Hey Mr.Jo" he was cut off by another voice unfamiliar to him. RJ turned his gaze to the direction of the sound.
He was staring at a slim girl who was leaning on the white fence that separated their lawn with the neighbor's.
The girl wore a yellow dress with a white headband, she was staring at RJ for a minute before Uncle Joey replied.
"Uy Meng! Nice seeing you today" Maine smile before making eye contact with RJ again. It made RJ anxious so he looked away from the girl's gaze and stared at his Uncle.
Uncle Jo, ignorant of the weird eye contact between the two. Smiled and projected.
"Oh Maine, this is RJ, my nephew. He's gonna be staying with us for a while".
The girl flashed a smile to RJ

"Hi RJ, I'm Maine" RJ just nodded before uttering a "Hi" There was an awkward silence after that but fortunately Jerald interjected just in time.
"Uy RJ tara... I'll show you to your room" he said as he pulled him inside the house.
