RJ was helplessly dragged by Louise now, as they strolled over to the sidewalk in front of the Mendoza residence.
RJ was happy that Louise was here, in fact he was more then happy- he felt like he was on top of the world.
RJ wanted to catch up with his best friend and he really did want to go to the amusement park, but he needed to be with Maine now.
Prying his hand off of his best friends grip, he took a step away from her. Louise glanced back at the boy with a confused expression.
RJ shook his head, before starting "I can't, I have somewhere important I have to go to"
Louise rose an eyebrow as she stared at her childhood friend "Hindi ba pwede bukas nalang yan?"
"Nope, it's pretty important to me" he asserted with an apologetic smile
Louise smirked "What is it? A date?"RJ shifted uncomfortably in his spot, this was it, his choice- the person who he thought was the only one for him or the person who made him question it. For some reason, even with Louise here right now- all he could think about was his date with Maine.
What most surprised was that, really, after three years of wishing to be with Louise and wanting to see her again, now that she was here, all RJ could think about was seeing the loser slim girl again.
RJ told Jerald he'd choose Louise over Maine but that was a lie, he just wanted his cousin to shut up about that fate nonsense, you know, prove to him that he really did have a choice.
RJ didn't believe in any of those hogwash anyways, he knew. RJ had a choice, it was just that his choice this time paralleled with fate. Yeah, he'd kick destiny off the wheel, even though where he was heading is exactly the same place fate was going to in the first place. A sense of false comfort was better then nothing- at least he thought he was in control.
The truth is, he was gradually getting over Louise... he didn't know when, and he didn't know how, but he knew it had something to do with the slim girl.
Was Maine his soulmate? He hoped not, else that would mean his feelings for her were coming from somewhere other then his heart- he didn't like that idea.
RJ flashed a smile "Not JUST a date, a very IMPORTANT date with a very IMPORTANT person"
Louise, shocked by the rather quick reply, blinked quite a few times before answering "Really? With who?"
"Your cousin" he stated casually, without hesitance.
"COLEEN?!?" Louise teased as she playfully punched RJ on the shoulder.
RJ chuckled "No not her, Maine!.... Which reminds me, what time is it?" Louise looked over her wrist watch "6:50, why?"
"SHIT!!!!!" RJ cried as he ran towards his car, stopping, he turned around to give his best friend one final hug for the night "We'll hang out tomorrow" he promised before releasing Louise from his grip.
"Promise ha!" Louise blurted, watching as RJ frantically opened the drivers seat of his car.
RJ gave him a thumbs up before slipping inside the vehicle. If only RJ was empathic, he'd know how heartbroken Louise was over the rejection....
"Can I change your mind?" Louise whispered as she watched the car zoom away.
***********************
As RJ was frantically trying to drive his way to the movie theater, he reached for his cell phone. He'd call Maine, notify her that he was going to be running a little late.
