Chapter 16

Jennifer's POV:                                  After inviting Joseph inside, we went to sit on the sofa near the fireplace. Before I could sit down completely, I remembered that I forgot to serve the chocolate cake which I prepared for the desert. I asked him if he was full or if he wanted to have the cake. He replied "Of course I would have it, after all it's a chocolate cake". I smiled, got up  and went to the kitchen to get the cake.

Joseph's POV:
I am still thinking if Jennifer is my mate or not, I want to know it but the only question is, Am I ready to know? Except me, all my brothers and sisters found their mate soon. Only I was left alone without my mate, which left me depression. I locked myself in a dark room and never came out even to eat. But because of my family, they encouraged me and finally after 20 years I came out of the room.

I was in a very bad condition because I starved myself and didn't even slept. But with the support of my family I once again became strong and forgot every thing about my mate. From then on I didn't paid any attention to any woman and I swear to myself that when I find my mate I will make her know how it feels to stay away from their mate.

From then on I focused on my training for becoming a most feared warrior and that I am. No one ever dares to cross me and it will stay that way only. But when I saw Jennifer for the first time, I felt something different about her and now I am scared, What if she IS my mate?

I heard the door open and the first thing I saw was a nicely baked and decorated chocolate cake and Jennifer trying to balance it in one hand and plates on another. I quickly got up and took the plates from her hand, but with caution to not to touch her. "Why didn't you used the trolley to get all the things" I asked, "I was bringing them in the trolley, but then I remembered that I don't know where the lift is and so here I am with every thing in my hand" she replied with a sheepish smile.

After that we settled down and begin to eat. With a curious look she asked "So Joseph, what do you do at your work, I mean I know that you are the head of the council but what kind of work do you perform". I replied "First of all, you must understand that just like humans, vampires also needs rules and regulations to keep them in control so that our secret is safe with us, only some trusted humans knows about our presence and, for those vampires who breaks these rules are punished and some times are killed".

"You kill them" she asked with shock on her face, "No not me there are other people for that work and they are not killed unless they have done something terribly wrong". She relaxed a bit and I continued "Not only this but we also have to maintain peace with all the other supernatural entities, and for that we prepare different treaties and follow them". "So you mean to say that there are more supernatural creatures other than the vampires" she asked with childish excitement in her voice. I smiled at her and replied "Yes, there are, for example Werewolves, Witches, Wizards, Ghouls, Elfs, Mermaids, Angels, Fairies, and who knows one must find dragons also and there are many more and the good part is that we all stay together and help each other in their problems".

"I don't believe this, how could this be, I only knew about the vampires" she said. Now it was my turn to question "How do you know that the vampires exists"? Suddenly all the excitement left her face and she became pale.

A/N: Sorry to all the dear   readers that I didn't updated yesterday as I was very tired from all the traveling and all. And so here is a super long chapter to make up for it.
