Chapter 27

Joseph's POV:
I looked at Jennifer who looked flustered because of all the attention paid to her after I introduced her as our special guest. She looked beautiful in that golden dress which hugged her at all the right places.

After the cake was cut, we all put up our masks and the ball begin. I looked over to Jennifer who was standing at the end of the room. I felt bad for not going over to her, because at first I danced with the twins and after that when I tried going to her, many ladies came forward to dance and I can't even say no as to not to be rude.

I was dancing with a lady who was trying to get to close for comfort, when my eyes felt upon Jennifer. There was a person who was asking her out for the dance. This made me angry, cause I wanted to be the first to offer her to dance.

Soon they both got in the centre and started to dance. He kept his hand on Jennifer's back making me more angrier. Through out the dance he kept a firm gaze on her, making me want to rip out his eyes. Soon the song was over, making me sigh in relief, but just then he took her hand and placed a kiss on it, this made my blood boil. I looked at Jennifer who hurried back to the end of the room and sighed in relief.

This time, without wasting a second, I went up to her and asked huskily, "Would you do the honour of dancing with me, Jennifer? She blushed and slowly put her hand in my waiting ones. Once her hand touched mine, electricity started running down my arms and shot out to my heart. I was so happy, finally I found my mate and that too the girl whom I fell in love with. But suddenly the memory of my past pain played in front of my eyes, which angered and hurt me. It looked like Jennifer noticed my sudden mood change because she looked confused.

With a cold look I said, " I am sorry Jennifer but I have to go, an important work came up". I saw the look of disappointment on her face and my gaze softened a little, but the memory of my previous pain flashed through my mind and I turned away and walked off to my room. I guessed that Kevin and Lucas noticed my sudden mood swing and came behind to question me.

"What happen brother, is everything all right?" asked Kevin.

"No, nothing's all right?" I replied with a cold voice.

"Why, what happened?" asked Lucas.

"What happened, this happened, Jennifer's my mate" I shouted glaring at them.

They looked taken by my sudden outburst but tried to soothe me.
"Joseph, forget about it.....it was past, now look at her, she is your mate, you finally found her" said Lucas.

"Yes, forget about your past and live in your present with your mate" said Kevin.

"You both are saying this because you found your mates soon, but me, I went through a lot" I said gritting my teeth.

In the middle of our arguments, I heard Jennifer scream "Noo......Anna", in my vampire speed I rushed down from where the voice came and saw Jennifer collapsing, but before she could hit the ground I caught her in my arms, tears were falling down her cheeks and she passed out.

This made me more angrier, but I controlled it, not to hurt her with my strength. I picked her up bridal style and took her to her room. I gently placed her on the bed. Soon my family surrounded me, everyone looking concerned.
