Dracula's Castle

Chapter 22

Jennifer's POV:
(The night before the celebration)
"Hahahahah" the sound of everybody's laughter filled the whole of the dining area. Kevin just cracked a joke on which we all laughed our hearts out.
"That was hilarious honey" exclaimed Katie looking lovingly at her husband.

This made me look over to Joseph and at the same time he looked over to me and gave me his heart melting smile. This made my heart skip a beat and heat crept up my cheeks.

After the dinner was over, Katie and Serena helped me clear the table and dishes. The boys were going through the decorations just to check if anything is left out.

After making sure that everything was set, we all retire to our rooms. The brothers are staying over so that the remaining work could be finished in the early hours of morning.

I went to my room and turned in for the night, but still I wasn't feeling sleepy. After sighing the hundredth time in one hour I got up and made my way to the kitchen. I got myself a glass of water and sat down on the kitchen table.

It's not like I wasn't exhausted, I was just worried about meeting the Count Dracula. Although Joseph's brothers and their wives liked me, but what if his parents finds me disgrace and order to finish me off to protect their identity, after all I am a mere human. But I have to try my best, or else I won't be able to reach to Anna. "Oh Anna, where are you" I thought.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't noticed Serena coming in. She put her hand on my shoulder which surprised me and a gasp came out of my mouth.

"Oh Sorry didn't mean to scare you" she said apologizing. "No no I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't saw you coming" said I getting up from my seat.

"Jennifer, I know something is bothering you, you know I am here to help" she said with a sad smile. I hate to see the people who cares about me sad and besides why not talk about it with someone.

"Sorry to make you worried, it's just that I am afraid to meet Count Dracula and the Queen. What if they don't like me and throw me out" I said pacing back and forth.

Serena giggled a little, which made me turn red in embracement. She put both her hands on my shoulder and gave me a bright smile.

She then hugged me and started stroking my hair. It made me calm down and I hugged her back. She was like an older sister which I never had. Then in a soothing voice she said "Don't worry, just be yourself and I am sure they will love you".

Now I was at ease. I hugged her tightly and said a small thank you. She let go of me and smiled "Now go and get some sleep, we have to prepare a hearty lunch in the morning". I give one of my biggest smile and nodded. Soon I was in bed, sleeping soundly.
