My lungs are gasping for air, screaming for oxygen.
My eyes are refusing to stay open as I breathe out my last breath of oxygen. I stop struggling, it was only making it worse. I hear my heart slowly pounding until it becomes of the faintest of sounds miles away. I thought it was the end. I thought that no-one was going to save me.
I was wrong.
I suddenly feel firm hands wrap around my waist and lift me from the bottom of the pool where I laid hopelessly. I force my eyes open to see a bubble forming around me and my unknown rescuer.
Once the mysterious bubble surrounded me I gasped breathing and coughing out water frantically allowing my lungs to cling to the air that I was suddenly given. I look around and seem to be encased in a tiny room sized bubble, a invisible ground formed at my feet. Once I started breathing normally again, I realized that I was still in my rescuer's arms and on instinct I quickly pushed his chest and retreated back tripping over my own foot. Like the hopelessly clumsy person I am- I fall harshly on the smooth, weird material that rippled from the impact.
"I told you to be careful" The mysterious and also very intriguing stranger said pulling his wet hoodie over his head, keeping his identity sealed. He doesn't meet my eyes but looks sternly at the floor.
"You sent me that text" Was the only thing I thought to say.
"Yeah, and you ignored it, now look where that got you" He stated harshly, with his husky voice, whilst slowly turning away with his back now facing me.
Rude much.
"Who are you?" I slowly found my balance and tried to get up but was interrupted by a burst of water entering the bubble that surrounded me, pulling me out like a vacuum causing the mystery boy to quickly turn around allowing a glimpse of his mesmerizing grey eyes to be discovered. He tried reaching for me grazing my hands which sent electricity down my arm. Before I lost sight of him, I saw a symbol on the side of his wrist.
I'd seen that symbol before.
"I'll find you" we're the last words he said, it echoed through my head.
He meant it, at least he sounded like he meant it. It didn't sound like a threat, instead, it sounded like a promise.
I was pushed up towards the surface by an invisible force and the next thing I knew I was being grabbed by multiple hands pulling me out of the water.
"Erica, speak to me, are you okay?" Trent held my face in his hands gently and looked me over to see if I was hurt.
"Ricky!" Victoria rushed to my side pushing Trent out of the way and abruptly pulling me into a tight embrace.
"Where is he?" I pulled away from my worried best friend and searched the pool for a figure that wasn't there.
He'd disappeared... Again.
"Where's who?" Trent asked confused, looking in the direction that I was.
"The guy who just saved me" I turned to look back at Victoria and Trent exchanging concerned and confused expressions.
"We need to get her to the hospital" Connor said to both Vic and Trent while I continued to scourer the pool.
"Erica, there's nobody in the pool" I turned to look at my best friend with disbelief.
"But he was right there and he made this Bubble thing and I was breathing under water and-"
"Okay, now we really need to get her to the hospital" Trent and Connor took an arm each and pulled me away from the edge of the pool. I didn't fight back, I was too confused.
