When the bus arrived, we all filed outside to get everything set up. I had almost reached the bus when I gasped. Oli's head snapped in my direction.
"What? What happened?" He asked worriedly.
"Oli, look!" I ran over to a bush by the front of the bus. I bent down and gingerly picked up a kitten that was lightly mewing. I ran back over to Oli, and gave him my best puppy dog eyes. "Oli, look! It's a little kitty! Can we keep him? Can we keep him?" I pleaded. Oli looked a bit on-the-fence about it.
"I don't know, Dylan." He started slowly. Vegan gasped and ran up behind me to pet the kitty.
"Oliver! We must keep this kitten." He stated seriously. Oli still hesitated.
"Oli, please. He doesn't have a home. He's all alone. I can take care of him!" I argued. Oli rubbed his face with his hands. He breathed in deep, and dropped them. He was smiling.
"We can keep him-"
"Yay!!"
"But, you, Dylan, have to clean up its poop." Oli smirked. I groaned but smiled anyway. Vegan cheered and got on the bus. Oli and I followed suit. After everyone got their bunks settled, we all sat on the couch and watched cartoons. I was feeding the kitten milk. Jordan looked at me.
"What are you naming him?" He asked. I looked up, surprised. I had completely forgotten about a name.
"How about Olober Jr.?" Oli suggested jokingly. I shook my head vigorously, sending my fringe into my eyes. I flicked it back and stated simply,
"Socks. His name is Socks." The guys all looked at me funny. Oli raised an eyebrow. "Cus look! He has socks on!" I referred to the white paws on his otherwise dark grey body. They all smiled and shook their heads.
"Socks, I like it," Oli said and poked my cheek. I stuck my tongue out, and soon fell asleep to the sound of Socks' purring and Adventure Time on the T.V.
