The Mortal Arts: New Beginnings

Chapter 6

Liberty's POV:

I got up around 5:30 and got out of bed heading to the bathroom to shower, once I got out I got on a pair of black jeans, a tight red t-shirt, black combat boots, and of course my parkour gloves. I quickly dried my hair and then got out so Asher could get ready. I decided to play a quick match of cod:mw3 while I waited for my best friend.

~time skip~

We already had out first class so now we were making our way to the combat training class. We got there and already I knew I could ace this there was a rock climbing wall and a lot of bars and ledges that you could climb on. The teacher was a scary looking tall man who's name was
Mr. Horus.

"Liberty! Jamie! You two will be fighting against each other just to test your skills" he yelled at us.

"No weapons and no killing. Your allowed to climb anything in this room if it helps you!"

"I glance at Asher and she gives me a concerned look, I was quiet, shy, and hate loud noises. I smile to myself, knowing no one would guess that I was good at fighting.
All the other students were lined up against the wall, Zero looked at me and smiled.

I glanced up at Jamie and saw a few faults in his offensive form other than that it was perfect. I quickly got into a defense form just as Mr. Horus yelled start! Jamie came at me with speed so my best chance was to stay in defense.

I finally get a opening and took it kicking Jamie's leg, he stumbled back and I took that opportunity to go on the offensive punching him in the face and I jumped back before he had a chance to grab me. He got up and looked at me before running to the parkour course. I chase after blocking everything else out. My only thoughts were on taking Jamie down. I grab a metal bar and haul myself on it, balancing perfectly on it just as Jamie came running down a bar on my right I took a deep breath and jump across the bars to another one. I ran up behind Jamie before he had a chance to turn around and slam a leg into his back, knocking him off the bars.

"Okay that's enough of that" Mr. Horus said to me.

I smile when I see my friends staring at me in shock.

"You okay?"

I quickly ask Jamie.

"Yeah, your way better than I was expecting"

I smile at him.
I probably shocked a lot of people being the shy girl and all. I sigh and sit down on the bars just as my friends come over.

"Well I think you shocked us all"

Brad said and Asher nodded in agreement I smiled at them and turned my head to look at Mr. Horus

"Well Liberty is our winner but we still have practice to be done so get to it."

I jumped down from the bars and follow my friends over to the mat. The rest of the class all we did was push-ups and sit ups and stuff like that.

Next class was English for me and Zero while Asher and Brad had math. I quickly left the training room before my friends and started avoiding crowds to hurrying along to class. Class started in about 5 minutes so I went and got my English book out of my room.

Justas I shut my door 5 of the Nemesis students were waiting for me I recognized 2 of them immediately as Minnie and Brock the guy who tripped me on the subway.

"I saw you in combat training, you were good but don't think your better than us" the girl called Minnie told me.

I nod, my brown eyes opened wide, I may be a good fighter but five against one is not exactly a fair fight. My breathing gets heavier as I realize there seeing if they could take me. One of the girls looks up and down the halls before saying

"Clear."

I sprint. Not caring where I was going just as long as it got me away from the 5 kids that were chasing me. Luckily, I knew where class was and I really needed to find Zero right now. They weren't gaining any ground and I finally realize I used to be a thief-blending in was part of the job!

I made a sharp right turn and spotted some girls from the Athena tribe I run over and and follow them closely. Luckily all the Athena students were very smart and realized what I was doing, The leader of this little group pulled me into the middle of them and kept talking. I glance to my right and see the Nemesis members run right by me and down a hall.

"So I'm guessing your the girl who beat some guy in combat training?"

The girl asked me I nodded at her.

"My names Serena, I over heard some of those girls talking about how you beat up that Minnie's girl crush"

So that's why they wanted to catch me.

"I'm Liberty thank you for hiding me!"

Serena just nodded.

"What class do you have?"
A girl to my right asked

"English"

"Great! We have that too, you can hang out with us just incase they come back, the names Erin by the way."

These girls seemed very nice. The girl that said her name was Erin had short black hair and hazel eyes, while Serena had long blond hair with intelligent grey eyes.

Once we got there I see Zero sitting in the back, I wave bye to my new friends and sit down in a desk beside Zero.

"Where the heck were you?" He asked.

I flinched as I realized he was probably worried because I disappeared without waiting for him.

"I was running"

I said quietly and he looked confused but let it go. I take a deep breath and look over at Serena who was looking back at me. I smile at her and she smiles back.

"Alright class we will begin now"

a short old woman in a grey dress said.

"My name is Mrs.Bast"
she looked around the class room before saying

"Please open your English book to page 250."

I sigh, today was going to be a long day.

"All right class pease find a partner and complete the assignment with them."

I glance over at Zero but another boy was already talking to him Zero gives me a sad look but I smile at him and walk over to Serena.

"Wanna be partners?" I ask quietly

"yeah" she says while smiling at me.

We both get on that and soon were one of the first groups that have finished.

"So Liberty, any idea of how your going to dodge Minnie for the rest of your life? I've seen her fight she's good, even for you"

I look down at my shoes,

"well I don't plan on dodging her for the rest of my life but I think I can dodge her when I'm alone"

Serena nods thoughtfully

"I'll tell all my friends about you, if they ever see you running they'll hide you"

"Thank you Serena"

she nods and starts putting stuff away just as the bell rings. I sit there thinking for a minute before Zero nudges me
"You coming?"

I nod and take his hand as he pulls me to the next class.
