My body feels paralyzed, my eyes unable to fully open. I see a crack of light, but nothing nearly enough to see or make out anything.
I feel invisible. I hear no one. See no one. I forgot what has happened.
I can't feel my arms especially and my brain has a major migraine. I attempt to loosen my finger but nothing happens.
I feel hopeless. I guess this is what people in a coma feel like. Useless. Yet, I don't feel that I am in a coma; I see light from crack in my eyes and I am aware that I am not at home.
I hear a thumping sound to my left. Somehow, I manage to turn my head just slightly to the side.
What once was off whiteish beige is now filled with silver, tan and blue.
Out of reflex, my eyes adjust and open more to show my surroundings. My neck is propped up by an unknown object and I see my arm is covered in IV's.
My skin feels cold and dry, like some sort of Iceland. A cup of water and a tub full of medical supplies sits on the nightstand. Next to that is a hanger-looking thing with a monitor I cannot see or read and a tube of yellow-ish water.
"......H-Huh?" I whisper under my breath, just loud enough to hear but very quiet. My throat feels like a desert.
"H-H-Hey Aph-Aphmau." I hear a voice to my right. I stuggle to move my head until it turns enough to see.
Zoey stands right next to my bed, a bright smile plastered on her face. Behind her is a small group of people including Levin, Malachi, Garroth, Laurance and Katelyn.
"H-Hey." Garroth stutters, looking away from their quiet conversation. "I think she's awake guys."
Garroth walks over, carrying a few cards and setting them on the table by my feet. The window behind him is closed, so I motion for him to open it. He doesn't understand my small gesture, so Katelyn opens the large curtains to show a view of the city of Phoenix Drop. I am high up and notice I am in the hospital skyscraper.
"Are y-you okay, Aph? You seem.... Dazed." Laurance speaks up, setting a stuffed bear and balloon next to the cards.
"Mmmmm." Is all I can manage out. I feel drained and sore, but I have no clue why.
"Is mommy awake?" Levin says from the other side of the room.
"Yes Levin. But talk quieter; she probably is still in pain." Zoey responds. Levin nods and continues to play in the corner with Malachi.
"What--" I say as my voice cracks. Katelyn notices and grabs the water, dripping a few drops onto my dry lips and down my parched throat.
"Hmm.... Thanks." I whisper. She nods back and heads over to Malachi and Levin sitting next to them and beginning to talk and play with them. I smile at her thoughtfulness, especially since she doesn't particularly like toddlers.
"What.... Happened?" I ask them.
"You don't remember?" Zoey says, her eyes becoming glossy.
"Nn-No." I stutter out.
"Oh." Zoey giggles, a tear running down her chin.
"Well,
You saved my life."
